'Papua
New Kenny'
While the obscure dialect spoken
on the recently discovered remote Pacific atoll of 'Papua New Kenny' is
yet to be deciphered, what remains indisputable is the remarkable consequences
brought upon these tribespeople due to their exposure to the South Park
character Kenny McCormick.
Simply put, the repercussion
of this seemingly innocuous
event has been staggering.
History details innumerable
instances wherein a seemingly advanced culture has clashed head-on with
an ancient civilization accompanied by devastating societal and political
upheavals as well as the introduction of disease to the point of complete
extirpation of an ethnic group. In most instances throughout the last 2,000
years this has occurred in the name of Christianity.
Paradoxically perhaps, this
contemporary instance however is the random result of a malfunctioning
telecommunications satellite violating its orbit, plummeting safely
into the tribe's crude yet unyielding crayfish nets located in the atoll's
picturesque southern harbour.
The remarkable effect of the
ensuing ceaseless repetition of the first TV series of 'South Park' has
been the far-reaching indoctrination of the tribespeople into believing
the fictional cartoon character 'Kenny' as an all powerful god, a supreme
omnipotent undying being.
Here now for the first time
since the spiritual conversion came to pass are some choice examples of
psalms and hymns praising the almighty 'Kenny' performed by the 'Papua
New Kenny Men's Glee Club'.
