History

Like many bands, disraeli have a history to them. One day, we hope to write a book about the various incarnations of bands that Melissa and James have been in. Disraeli formed from the ashes of a previous covers band, 'Platonic'. Platonic had made a success of themselves, playing a selection of covers music at venues around their home town of Malvern in Worcestershire. At the time things were going well, then everything went a bit 'Fleetwood Mac'.... that's what happens when band members get a little too friendly!

As a sideline, James and Melissa joined a 'show band', Glorious54, which played at functions and parties, mostly disco and chart music. However, Glorious54 quietened down and nothing has recently been heard.

When the dust settled, thankfully James and Melissa decided that they wished to continue making music and continued playing as Platonic for a short while. Last summer, the duo decided to change their name and performed two nights of gigs in Hertfordshire, being very well recieved, it was an experience not to be forgotten.

Towards the middle of last year, things were put on ice for a while, work pressures, combined with James' commitment to his other band 'TheTruth' (a five piece rock band) and Melissa's increased amount of theatrical work meant that disraeli went on hold for a while.

However, they say you can't keep a good band down, and in March 2000, James quit TheTruth due to conflicts of interest. Melissa was contacted and expressed an interest in starting disraeli back up again. Thanks to the previous year's work, a short 'Tour' has been put together, details of which feature on the 'Gigs' page.

No-one knows where the future will take the band, but it is finally nice for both members to exist in such a sucessful and mutually rewarding duo.
