"MEMO"
February
4th, 1963: Memo opened in New Haven, Connecticut with such notable
personalities in the cast as MacDonald Carey and Alan Alda. This was a
very funny show on it's way to Broadway, but unfortunately after the run
in New Haven, the play folded in Boston. There was a terrible blizzard
in Manhattan in that winter of 1963, then to compound the problem New York
was having a newspaper strike which, coupled with the snow banks, hampered
advanced ticket sales tremendously. The producer, Sheppard Taube, after
some thought, decided to cash in his chips, much to the dismay of the cast.
