Ronan Keating has risked his clean-cut image to
record a track penned by rock wildman Shane MacGowan.
The song will feature as a B-side on Ronan's
latest single The Way You Make Me Feel, which is out in November.
It is a re-recording of MacGowan's hit with The
Pogues and Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale of New York - which was a Christmas
hit in 1987.
It is thought Ronan will have amended the words
for his version, because the original contained brief touches of bad language.
The song has long been hailed as a pop masterpiece,
not least because of its touching lyrics.
Ronan is currently promoting his first solo album,
while on a break from boyband Boyzone.
As well as a UK tour, he is off to New York to
perform with Elton John. An offer which led him to have to rearrange some
of his British dates.
MacGowan has had a battle with the bottle since
finding fame in the early Eighties.
