Legend has it that every 1000 years, a Super-Saiyan is born, with a power that surpasses all other Saiyans. He alone will become the dominant power in the universe.
Normal Saiyan:
The Saiyans are a warrior race from the planet Vegita. Almost all of them were killed when Freiza destroyed the planet Vegita with a death ball. The only survivors were Goku, Vegita, Nappa (who was killed later), and Brolly, who appeared in a few of the movies. The Saiyans have an ape-like body, with a tail, and are extremely strong. If a Saiyan looks at the full moon, or something that can create the same rays that come from the moon, they are able to transfrom into a giant ape-like creature with an uncontrollable rage and an enormous power.
Ozaru Form:
In this form, a Saiyan's power is increased by 300 %. But unfortunately, once in this form, the body and mind can no longer be controlled. The Saiyan is engulfed in an uncontrollable rage, and is extremely dangerous. But if the rays from the moon are obstructed, they will immediately turn back into their normal form.
Super Saiyan 1:
This form is the first of the four transformations of a Super-Saiyan, and can be twice as powerful as the normal form. In this form, the hair shoots up and turns a pale blonde, the eyes turn green, the eyebrows turn golden, and they are surrounded by a yellow aura. This transformation can be triggered by extreme anger or sorrow. The first to reach this form was Goku when Freiza killed Krillin. Then Gohan, Vegita, Future Trunks, Trunks, Goten and Brolly reached this level. The 3 fusion forms- Vegetto, Gogita, and Gotenks- were also able to reach this level.
Super Saiyan 2:
This form doesn't look too different from a Super Saiyan, but it is definately a lot stronger. The only difference is that the hair is a more solid golden color, and a little bit longer. The transformation can be triggered by training or by extreme anger or sorrow. In this form, the Saiyan can control his power and speed so that he won't use more than he needs to. The first to reach this level was Gohan, when Cell killed Android No.16. Then Goku and Majin Vegita and Brolly reached this level.
