SHRI DATTABAL’S PERSONALITY

It was a haunted period of my childhood. My mind was totally obsessed by a singular prayer that had haunted terra and firma of my consciousness with tremendous intensity. My mind prayed at the feet of Shri Ramkrishna Paramhuns and Swami Vivekananda. The prayer, the mute demand that swelled in my heart was quite simple but it had sprouted from the very core of my being. My heart craved only for one thing, an illumined Guru who had met the maker eye to eye and who had the capacity to transmit the same experience in the hearts of his chosen disciplines.

And one day when this turmoil had reached a crescendo that throbbed in my mind ceaselessly, I had a dream that proved to be premonitive. In the dream I was playing with my companions in an old temple. All of a sudden a fakir appeared out of no-where. All my playmates ran away at the sight of the strange fakir. I was terribly afraid but I could not move an inch. Next moment my body levitated and was dragged as if by magnetic pool towards the feet of the fakir and then the vision ended.

A decade passed away and my parents sent me the city of Kolhapur for higher education. And one fine evening of January 1964 suddenly confronted me with the fakir of my dream but this time quite tangible. I was in physical presence of Shri DattaBal, my master, my Guru. The compassionate masters Shri, Ramkrishna and Swami Vivekananda  had granted my prayer and with the help of the wonderful vision had led me at the feet of my master. The moment exploded and with it triggered a chain of explosions that transmuted my whole being.

When I came in his contact I was a patient of cronic kidney trouble. A British lady doctor Miss Helen Mose declared that I will not live for more than two years. I never requested Shri DattaBal to heal me. But when he found out that my meditation were disturbed by sever backache, he decided to heal me. That was my first experience of healing. I was sitting in front of him, soon his aura engulfed me, like mist that surrounds the peak of a mountain and entered into the core of my consciousness, like water that enters into a sponge. Blue and golden colours engulfed me. I was cured and I breathed an air of rare relaxation. This healing experiment crated a wave of surprise in my doctors.

I asked with gratitude “Baba, what is the inner mechanism of healing process?” He said “I do not know the inner mechanism of inner process, but I certainly understand healing force as an energy coming out of my innermost itself into colored vibration.

HIS OWN PERSONALITY

Shri DattaBal started healing people from his childhood. Until now he has healed in thousands. (Many of these cases I have witnessed myself)  When he was a lad of twelve he could demonstrate his healing of telekinetic abilities. His father Prin. M. R. Desai, then total atheist, an England returned educationalist, was flabbergasted, when he witnessed his son’s telekinetic and healing abilities. So he decided to take him to different experts to test his extra sensory abilities. His experienced convinced some of them that he was a mad child. Some treated him as an Avatar.

Parvatiamma was a clairvoyant lady from Mysore State (India). Once she came to his father’s house and said to his mother, “There is boy in your house who had black mole on his right foot and on his right shoulder. He will a great man.” Today we see the prophecy has come true. But then Shri DattaBal himself did not believe in it because he was brought up with his grandfather, who was District Judge. He was surprised how Parvatiamma could describe rightly a black mole on his right foot and a birth mark on his right shoulder. The Godmen business never appealed him. DattaBal never wanted himself to be called as His Holiness. He totally disapproved of tongue twisting titles being appended to his name either as a prefix of a suffix. He believes in no cult even like to be called an adhyatmavadi. Jeevanvadi is a description dearer to him. Surely not many saints would like to be called thus.

CHILDHOOD

His childhood undulated between European sophistication and its antithesis which were his inner impulses. He was born on Thursday April 3, 1941 at 2.55 p.m. at Kolhapur. He was brought up by his grandfather, Raosaheb Sadshivrao Rannaware who used to convinced him with his westernized logic that religion was a hoax and was meant for exploitation of the down-trodden classes. Simply the logic appealed him. Whenever devotional gatherings were held with a zest of a revolutionary he used to ridicule promptly. Atheism was some sort of heroism for him and with valour of a revolutionary he maintained it. Shalini palace is a beauty spot at Kolahapur. It is majestically overlooking lake. Red, pink and yellow hues used to enomour Shri DattaBal’s infant mind. He used to stare at the domes of the Shalini palace and into ecstacy. Reflections of these hues turned the whole lake into liquid blood. For him the whole scene was living poetry. He used to see colored castles, flying angles and diabolic demons into the multishaped clouds floating in the azure blues. Bliss used to gush forth. Star-studded skies and velvety darkness of nights used to make him a stunned child before the Unknown. Lanternlit nights used to fill him with joy. Mechanics of nature always puzzled him. How grasshopper can jump? Why ants follow secret discipline? When do clouds fill their tummies with rain waters? were the questions that puzzled him and yet filled him with enhancement.

NARROW ESCAPE FROM A BULLET

His grandfather has dozen rifles, it included Shri DattaBal’s point twenty-two tiny rifle Bluish black color of the rifles glittered in the Sun-light in their Kagal Palace residence. His grandfather came to him and said, “DattaBal, let us clean the guns. He was overjoyed to heat it because he had a feel of fire-arms, from his childhood. His grandfather brought the guns and started cleaning them with oil and brushes. He caught hold of the barrel. Grandfather was puffing out blue smoke. Suddenly he heard a bang and a jet of smoke came out of the rifle. A bullet escaping his skull by an inch entered the wall at his back. Somehow his grandfather carelessly missed to check the gun which carried a live cartridge. His pipe fell down from his mouth spreading on the floor burnt tobacco. He was shocked. He found his grandson alive. That day the atheist learnt that a distance of an inch can be a difference between life and death and his grandson was saved by the grace of God.

Shalini palace compound was always surrounded by bullock carts. Half-naked farmers form all Deccan Maharashtra used to assemble there on the bazar day. In the evening they cooked their food in vessels, with the aid of gray dried hay as fuel. Shri DattaBal always desired to go to them and share the rustic party. But the dignity of his grandfather’s status forbad him from fulfillment of his cherished desire.

THE VALUE OF LOVE

Fragrance of earth was spread out after the first rain shower. The fragrance filled his cell and cell. Some unknown reservoir of energy used to be tapped. Fragrant mango groves and vibrating presence of trees hypnotized him. Mud houses of the village near Kagal told the sad story of poor India. Shri DattaBal with his grandfather went then for hunting. The vehicle was a jeep. They all perspired by jumping and pounding. The tropical hot Sun was blazing with all ferocity.

An agile white spotted deer jumped out of a bush. His grandfather fired a bullet. The crippled deer, still with the urge to live in every fiber of its skin, bounced up and up. Babu, their servant rushed to the deer with the speed of a panther. Babu caught the deer and clashed the larynx of the deer with the skill of a surgeon. Blood sprang clouding Shri DattaBal’s emotions and soul. That day he looked into the gleaming eyes of the deer. His every nerve vibrated with the ugliness of man’s vampirism. With every jerk of the deer his palaces of dreams were rapidly collapsing. Here he first learnt the value of love. Filmy awareness of human cruelties which he envisaged in the eyes of the deer chased him for days, months and years.

When moon light used to flood their white bungalow, he used to sing a song. ‘Oh! my moon, Oh! my Moon the dear one. Moon Moon! Why are you hiding behind the trees? I will give a beautiful present. Come back, come back’ Now the song was lost whenever he used to stare at the disc of the white Moon. He used to see the filmy eyes of the dying dear.

 TIGER STONE

Panhala is a hill station. Three hundred years ago Raja Shivaji had occupied the Panhala fort. Shri DattaBal’s grandfather had a small bungalow at the hill station. Shri DattaBal used to see fireflies amidst that greenery. The fireflies with radium fluorescence were special attraction for him. Their angelic radiance always awakened in him profound admiration for their creator, either nature of God. His grandfather used to tell him story of Raja Shivaji and Shri DattaBal used to dream of heroic acts of Raja Shivaji.

Behind the bungalow there was a beautiful protruding stone on a small hillock. He used to love the stone calling it ‘a tiger.’ He loved the tiger intensely. The stone used to speak with him in a language unknown to the human mind. Perhaps in psychological terms, an imaginative language, or subconscious or unconscious fabrication of nether depths. Later when asked about this Communication with the inanimate object, he explained ‘I used to speak with the stone and it used to arouse in me certain memories. Perhaps from my subconscious animal worlds which I could not recognize but still there was a strange genuine relationship.

Vicious day came when his grandfather ordered their servant to remove the stone as it was not in harmony of the whole hillock and without his knowledge the stone was removed. The next day he went to talk with his tiger, but alas the tiger was not there.

This was another event rooted deep in to his subconscious. That day he spent in agony. It was an excruciating agony. He looked at the sky. The earth didn’t speak to him, no consolation came form it. He looked at his grandmother and in her eyes there was no consolation for him. He said ‘the tiger is lost, the deer is lost, the human race is essentially cruel. Vampires are destroying the world and its beatitude.’ With honour filled dreams into his eyes, he slept a restless night. He still dreamt of the presence of his dear tiger.

Once his friend brought a small stone and asked Shri DattaBal ‘Have you seen this stone?’ Yes, yes, I have seen the stone but I want to look within the stone.’ Shri DattaBal replied. ‘What is there in the stone?’ his friend again questioned him. Just then he broke the stone in him presence. Something within him said ‘DattaBal, you have not to see into the stone but within the stone. There is a living point of existence in the stone which you have to see. Something deep, within him. He experienced a point of existence within him and also within the stone and that they were one.

It happened at Kagal. He had a Gujarathi friend who rolled in wealth. Once they visited a rustic jaggery factory. A heap of hot ash was spread nearby, his friend Ratan challenged him to run through the ash faster than him. Both of them were not knowing about the burning heat beneath the ashes. Shri DattaBal was tempted to run. Ratan ran cheerfully. Shri DattaBal was about to run but some invisible force controlled his limbs and he could not run. Rattan was practically roasted. His agnostic grandfather enquired for days together ‘DattaBal, what made you not to run through ashes?’ Shri DattaBal had him stupefied by answering with a smile, ‘Perhaps, God’.

WARMTH UNDER STONY IMAGE

It is a temple in the vicinity of Kolhapur District. It has an aroma of piousness. Shri DattaBal meditated there for a long time. A worm of doubt slowly gnawed at his being. How a stony image can understand suffering of being. An unseen force urged him to lift the stony icon. He lifted it, he found ranks of ants beneath it. The stony image hiding the warmth of love with this thought he was moved and then he prayed Lord, ‘It is very difficult to realize the warmth of your love behind your granite heart.’

There was a small rivulet at the back of the Kagal palace. A beautiful landscape of Constable materialized in the three dimensional world. The rivulet had a crystalline transparency. Dipping his small feet into the cold water and splashing it, was a favorite pastime. His grandfather with a twelve bore gun in his hand used to fire at ducks, doves, pigeons and sometimes deer, though Shri DattaBal didn’t like killing, he certainly liked the smell of the fired cartridges. Kisan was his beloved servant, who used to have epileptic fits. At Kagal Shri DattaBal was spending his childhood in the world of fairies and heavens. A small statured Kisan was loyalty incarnate. But somehow Kisan started looking worried. Some unknown fear was carved on his face.

One fine morning, Shri DattaBal got up with some strange feelings. His grandfather was smoking a pipe, with blue smoky mist of tobacco around his. He said to him ‘There is bad news for you.’

It flashed in Shri DattaBal’s mind that he must have lost his examination score. But grandfather told his that Kisan was dead. He had an epileptic fit at Kagal Park. Kagal Park was the area where that beautiful rivulet flowed. Kasan had gone to wash clothes in that rivulet and had an epileptic attack and he never knew when he died. His body was discovered after four days, half eaten by fish. It was the first time in Shri DattaBal’s life when death meant something to him. Black horror dawned upon him. As a small child he felt death as a negation to all the beautitude of life.

FORGIVE HIM

There was a case in Raosaheb Sadashivrao Rannavare’s court at Kagal. A father had murdered his own daughter. The daughter had an illicit relationship with someone. Naturally father decapitated the daughter’s and offered it to Goddess. Shri Rannavare, just refer to an infant’s conscience asked him ‘What should I do?’ Shri DattaBal said solemnly ,’Forgive his, don’t hang him, it’s in a zest of tradition oriented notion he has dome it.’ Somehow Shri Rannavare agreed with the verdict and acquitted the accused.

WHAT ATHEIST PRAY

Shri DattaBal was seriously ill. A swelling appeared in his groins. The temperature shooted up and he became unconscious. Doctors lost hope. Atheist grandfather remembered the tale of Moghul emporer Babur. His son Humayun was on deathbed. All medical treatments proved futile. Babur prayed to Allah ‘Oh Lord, give my life to Humayun. I will leave my alcoholic beverges.’ The Allah listen to the prayer and Humayun came back to life. Shri Rannavare prayed earnestly for Shri DattaBal’s recovery. Though the doctors had lost all hope, Shri DattaBal recovered completely by grace of prayer. Shri DattaBal always tells us about prayer. God listens earnestly to theist and atheist. Beautifully, Indian sages have said “Rainshowers pour upon fields of saints and sinners at the same time. No distinction is made. The same air is breathed by all, no distinction is made.” The miracle of healing didn’t change his grandfather. Basically, he remained an atheist till his death.

FLAME MATERIALIZED

It was a moon flooded night. Kagal Lake was gleaming in that light. Silvery wavelets caught hold of Shri DattaBal. Their old gramophone was shouting at its zenith. He had a feeling of creative expansion. He could see clearly vibration of rare intensity which he was emanating. Intuitively he knew be could move inanimate objects. His brother Vijay, Pratap, Uday, Dilip and two sisters Sushma and Leena were all enjoying themselves. His father whom they call ‘Saheb’ was lying in the moonlight in sweet stupour. Shri DattaBal took a pillow and arranged it in standing position and stared at it with fixed gaze. The pillow fell. His brothers and sister clapped and clapped.

Hours later he was filled with love. His love was directed towards Lord Krishna like a typhoon that sweeps sea. Love seized him, awakening in his unknown impulses. He prayed before Shri Krishna’s image in the room. He was dazed and silenced. That silken night gripped him in its bosom tenderly and he slept.

At midnight he was awakened by a sudden shock. It was all dark inside the hall where they slept. Two fluorescent bluish flames appeared before him. One was gently hovering at the feet of Lord Krishna and one was gliding at his right toe. The flames were impregnated with deep consciousness. After some time both flames stated circumambulating around him. Their hypnotic movements lulled him and he slept. He was awakened to see a golden dawn and a fresh morning.

With an enthusiasm of a child who first a pebble in sands, he told Saheb (his father his strange experience. Saheb stoically listened and smiled and said ‘Suahma has already told me.’ ‘How could she know?’ Shri DattaBal asked. Saheb slowly added “She too saw the flames.’

Sushma is his younger sister having a pious mind and a religious disposition. Saheb went on telling him story of her vision, he said “Sushma too saw those flames perambulating your right toe. In radium fluorescence of those flames she saw your feet uncovered and actually when I got up at early dawn I too saw your feet uncovered. So I covered them blanket.’ Shri Dattbal’s amazement vanished into gentle surrender.

Once while remembering this experience he told us. ‘In the primal mass of spirit’s light you all were the flames with no covers of any conditions or dimensions, you were linked with one another and with the parent Divine. As in the ocean of light your were neither space nor time dimensions, Everything was interlinked. This interlinking principle relation is love. So feel and act as if you all are flames.

SPACE-INNER SPACE

Somehow Shri DattaBal had a fascination for space. For him space was a living entity. Whenever he used to close his eyes space used to open up in his heart. Then he used to smell space, become space and live into space. The experience of space within him used to thrill him and sometimes frighten him. From his third year to the thirteenth, the experience continued with great intensity. This experience of space dimension used to awaken in him a sense of non-materiality of the material world.

He witnessed some relationship between flowers and space. For him flowers were not the objects in space but loving, vibrating thought carved in space. He still remembers an episode which is deeply rooted in him. On his first visit to Kagal palace he saw a red plant of bouganvillaea radiating a fresh aura of liveliness. The plant gripped him and he was overflowing with bliss. The bliss was some sort of a rainbow bridge between the plant and himself.

For Shri DattaBal, flowers come out of the great cosmic heart of the mother nature. Each flower represents a thought and a emotion of the nature. Green foliage has a capacity to heal human sorrow and pettiness. Chirping birds, rustling leaves and dark naked crags have fragrance of ever newness.

It was a summer afternoon. He was near Kagal lake with one of his relatives and younger sister. He witnessed blazing fire not of charcoal, but of nature. It was a tree having red flowers. That day he knew that a tree could be an epic. What are articulate epics, nothing but fabrications of coherent human conscious and subconscious imaginations.

Black soil is amazingly vivid reality to Shri DattaBal. He has a sense of spiritual fertility about it. Out of this soil human beings emerge. Godmen emerge, having clay feet and divine souls. Barefoot strolls on black soil is invigorating Black, blue, red and yellow colours speak to him the language of unknown.

They spent two hours at Kagal. One at the residence-the Palace. Multicoloured glasses of the palace entranced him and carried him away into a colored heaven of consciousness. The main hall of the palace had eighteen tiger skins with their ferocious heads hung upon the walls. In the orange light of chandeliers the tigers became alive and he fired shots of rifle at them in the domain of his imagination. The pillars of the palace were craved with motif of beautiful fruits and leaves. With a military overcoat on his body and an automatic pistol in his pocket Shri Sadashivrao Rannavare used to take Shri DattaBal on his shoulders and march from the residence to the palace. Shri DattaBal looked at the vast expansion of darkness having shining eyes of the star. The eyes poured within him light from the celestial world.

SHRI DATTABAL’S VISIONS.

For Shri DattaBal’s visions are impulses from our inner self. They speak totally of inner rhythms of life. They are quintessence of your inner and outer selves. They speak languages not known to human mind.

VISION OF SHRI  AUROBINDO

His atheist father nonplussed by Shri DattaBal’s telekinetic healing abilities and his psychic experiences took him to different spiritual leaders and clairvoyants. Once he took him to a gentleman of seventy. His wrinkled face radiated an aura of holiness. He started staring intently at Shri DattaBal and suddenly exclaimed, ‘DattaBal, Aurobindo appeared in your vision and he has given you a definite sing.’

Shri DattaBal was amazed and then recollected the dream he had in recent past. A sage with a golden aura around himself appeared before Shri DattaBal, silvery hair fell upon his shoulders. He smiled beatifically and raised his hand pointing his index finger towards the sky. A bright star appeared in the sky and with a speed of light fell upon the earth. Shri DattaBal had never saw the photograph of Shri Aurobindo before. But the old gentleman ‘Hunnargikarbaba’ told about him and to Shri DattaBal’s surprise when he found Shri Aurobindo’s photograph he realized Shri Aurobindo had visited him. Shri Aurobindo was a modern mystic who believed and had forseen a Godman coming out of the nether depths of matter. His prophecy which was revealed to Shri DattaBal in vision, materialized within few days. Again he saw a stat falling down on a plain and that very afternoon he learned in a book concerning Shri Aurobindo’s philosophy the significance of falling star. When new consciousness emerges out of human existence, sensitive minds forsee it in a symbolic form. Probably the falling stat is a sign of a new dawn upon human mind. Shri Aurobindo and his collaborator, a French women popularly known as ‘The Mother’ of Pondicherry played s significant part in Shri DattaBal’s life.

ARE YOU MAD?

Once his father took Shri DattaBal to a famous astrologer. Saheb, his father, showed him Shri DattaBal’s horoscope. The astrologer looked at the boy and glanced at his horoscope and without studying it he remarked ‘This horoscope tells that your boy is likely to be a mad one.’ Immediately a women who had been there to consult the astrologer reprimanded the astrologer ‘Are you mad?’ She said, ‘This boy has healed me yesterday. I am completely cured. He is an Avtar to me.’

The astrologer when inside. Saheb was surprised and Shri DattaBal with his beatific smile said ‘Gratitude is the greatest virtue.’

VISION OF JESUS

‘His grace was all love’ said Shri DattaBal. ‘That vibrating love immediately entered in me.’

Gradually Shri DattaBal found himself transformed inch by inch and cell by cell. He felt he came out of a smaller shell and entered into a vaster self. He became Christ himself. A resplendent golden ring emanated out of his heart and started gliding before him. The circle slightly widened. Diseased people started coming. Ill hearts started coming under the spell of the golden ring. They were all healed and cured instantaneously.

The vision vanished and Shri DattaBal woke up with an upsurging healing force with greater intensity. Christ for him was a symbol of love itself. Once he said, ‘Christ knew how suffering can be transformed into love, ‘Christ was a super alchemist who knew how to transform human clay into the divine gold. He is the future man or future evolutionary prototype of human race. In every atom a dream of cell is hidden and in every cell the vision of godman is hidden. Christ is the secret rhythm of life. The innermost rhythm of life that pulsates into every fibre of the universe is Love.

The vision of Christ intensified Shri DattaBal’s healing ability. In his teenage he performed the sacrificial rite, the Yadnya offerings to the Divine Mother. Once after finishing sacrificial rite (Yadnya) Shri DattaBal felt a tremendous inrush of celestial energy, bliss springing into him. He was completely surcharged by this experience. At night while he was lying on the bed, multilcoloured clouds appeared before his eyes. With a jerk his astral body came out and he floated high up and up. Then his being went into the sum of Suns. His astral self exploded in the Sun and he immediately realized that the Sun is not merely a fireball with explosions of hydrogen. It the reality whose burning fireling is within our microscopic bodies. He realized behind the fires, hydrogen explosions and magnetism there is Divine Love that gets transformed into the sun rays. The vedic hymns and saints spoke in unision about all the material spiritual worlds.

ZERONESS CONSMED HIS MIND FIRST EXPERIENCE OF SAMADHI

Shri DattaBal was staying in one of the suburbs of Kolhapur. Timeless moments dawned upon him. At early morning Mr. Deshmukh went on asking him few philosophical questions. He became contemplative. An electricity rose out of his sacrum plexus and rushed towards his crown skull Clouds of colours floated before him. A single zeroness consumed his mind. He was entranced. Few seconds passed, again he became his total self.

After a couple of days Shri DattaBal commented, ‘Trance is a complicated affairs. It leads a man either to unconscious stupification or towards direction. The direction is either upwards or downwards.’ Fortunately he was drowned in the abyss of blissful consciousness. He really knew that time when man becomes empty, he embraces perfection. Perfection again is a complicated idea. It is not perfection of human ideation. Perfection is essentially a principle of homecstysis. Beautifully is said in Upnishad ‘Universe is perfect and the creator of universe us also perfect. When atoms dance in resonance with innate rhythm of nature’s song, Mystic understand totality of life in perfection.’

About this unique experience Shri DattaBal said “Every word of God revebrated in my cell and cell. The color of my astral body started changing. It became golden and vibrant. Every word of God filled me with celestial raptures. I was shown that I was addressing international audiences and also shown a modern hotel. The vision ended. I got up with a sudden shock. The joy of the vision remained even after fifteen days. God had spoken to me for the first time.”

The very next day after the vision Shri DattaBal went to the terrace and spread bliss everywhere. His physic body underwent change. At least for fifteen days it remained metamorphosed. In Shri DattaBal’s words – Caterpillar of his earthly body turned into the butterfly of angelic body.’

God is protagonist of hopeful future of human race. He is not a blind dreamer. He weighs possibilities of human Karma and then deliberately sanctions his mercy. He is a mathematician and dreamer at the same time.

VOICE OF GOD

Bawada is a suburb of Kolhapur. A sugarmill surrounded by vast sugarcane plantations, is a land mark of Bawada. A rich farmer and politician – resident of Bawada urged him to stay in his bungalow for some time. Shri DattaBal consented.

It was a moonlight night. The moon percolated into every pore of his physical body. He was restless in his bed. Somehow he could not sleep. He closed his eyes just to relax. It was a might of rare agony. He peeped out of his window and saw the sea of moonlight. Again he closed his eyes. After sometime multicoloured clouds started floating before his eyes. Suddenly his astral body came out of his physical self. Two huge bluish hands appeared in space. The hands held a beautiful golden bulk. Deep and sonorous voice roared in space. The voice spoke in English ‘DattaBal, you are an instrument. Tell the world that no cobalt bomb and automatic weapons can ever destroy my creation. Soon new human race will start living in dome like metalic houses. My mercy will descend upon the human race at the critical hours.’

VISION OF SWAMI VEVEKANANDA

Swami Vivekananda was a great mystic and philosopher of the present century. His magnificient personality and intution which arose out of self-realisaton affected America very much. He was called a cyclonic Hindu at World Religious Parliament of Chicago due to his fiery speeches. His effort was to synthesis Eastern and Western culture. His insight pointed out that every religion is a different aspect of divinity and fundamentally the core of all religion is one. He had prophetic insight into social and political problems also. He rightly predicted for the world. ‘Europe sitting on a living volcano which can erupt any time. Unless Europe mends he ways and diverts from materialism, she had no salvation.’ And Europe exploded fulfilling Swamiji’s prophecy. He is one of the architects of Modern India.

Swami Vivekananda’s literature affected Shri DattaBal a lot. Swamiji’s influences over him was not only spiritual but intellectual also. Before World Conference on Religion and Peace held in Japan, Swamiji appeared before Shri DattaBal in his vision. He started silently at him electrifying even cell of his body. When asked about Swami Vevekananda’s vision he said, ‘ After that vision I became conscious of some unknown force within me. He gave me few suggestions and disappeared. He appeared four times up to 1978. Every time he appears, he brings a new hope and message. After first vision of

Swami Vivekananda people from different parts of India started visiting him and calling him modern Vivekananda and in World Conference on Religion held in Quilon, Newspapers from Calcutta, Gwalior, Delhi started calling him Vivekananda from Maharashtra.

 THE GANGA

It happened in snowclad Himalayas. Early dawn was freezing cold and entrancing Shri DattaBal’s mind by the snowclad glaciers of the Himalayas. He entered the very heart of Himalayas. Ganga, the holiest river in India is transparence in itself. Ganga is not merely a river for an Indian mind but the flow of concentrated spiritual liveliness. To Shri DattaBal Ganga is the very vein of India’s collective consciousness. Poets and saints, patriots and rulers are enchanted by the clear water of the Ganga. As Fujiyama is the very cultural soul of Japan, Ganga is the spiritual soul Shri DattaBal Ganga is the very vein of India’s collective consciousness. Poets and saints, patriots and rulers are enchanted by the clear water of the Ganga. As Fujiyama is the very cultural soul of Japan, Ganga is the spiritual soul of India. He bathed in Ganga water and closed his eyes. When he opened his eyes he found a puffed up decaying body was floating towards him.

THE VISION OF MAHAKALI

There is a sacred place on the banks of Ganga known a Kankhal, at Haridwar. To his utter amazement, he found that the place was quite known to him, though he had never visited Himalayas before. In his early teen ages, he had a vision. ‘A river was encircling a holy temple. Hundreds of trees were standing erect on the bank of the river. As soon as he started walking towards the temple, Mahakali, the Divine Mother, appeared before him in space. In her sonorous voice she initiated him into a Mantra. Then she projected from her body hundreds of Kalis to her right and left. Then Shri DattaBal entered into the temple and saw everything around him.’

The vision vanished sanctifying his heart with its sacredness. When he actually visited Himalayas and saw Kankhal village in Haridwar, hw was totally convinced about the objectivity of the vision. The temple and the surrounding which he saw in vision was right there in Kankhal, materialized in three dimensional form.

Doubting within, the vision instantaneously vanished and converted him into a humble devotee of the Divine mother. Siva is the symbol of the primal static energy of the universe and Kali is the symbol of creative kinetic energy in the universe. The universe is the product of their union. From his childhood Shri DattaBal was aspiring not to have any human agency as his master of Guru. And his aspiration was fulfilled by the Divine Mother’s appearance and it’s objective proofs at Kankaha. Since then she became his Mantra. Guiding his internally and externally. Strangely enough Kankhal is supposed to be the place where the Divine Mother has sacrificed herself for Shiva or Shivhood.

SHRI DATTABAL’S PHYSICAL  EXPERIENCES

ASTRAL BODY

Those were the days of his college. He had to appear for Inter arts exam. But he was down with pneumonia. He went on getting worse. An eclipse day is supposed to be a holy day for occult practices. Shri DattaBal was pining to do certain Yogi practices on that day. His health obliterated all the possibilities. Yet his spiritual was stronger than the flesh. His astral self came of  his physical body like eater from sponge. It shooted in space like a soaring eagle and saw everything around it. Mr. Raut, his friend was sleeping in his small rented housel Shri Dattabsl’s eagle ken saw what his friend was doing. Then with a sudden shock he came back into his body. He was perspiring and gasping. Next day he summoned his friend and describe him the whole episode. Astonishment on his friend’s face was enough t o convince him of the objectivity of his physic experience.

A SNAKE SPEAKS

After an experience of heavy weight lifting Shri DattaBal slept a sound sleep. A dream swiftly descended upon him. He saw a snake caught up in a glass bottle. The snake was looking intently at him. Somehow its unspoken emotions were transmitted into his subconscious mind. ‘ho, Relieve me,’ was the cry of the snake. He arose in the morning. In the afternoon a peon of his college visited him. ‘What is in your bag?’ Shri DattaBal asked. ‘ A snake sir!’ The peon answered. ‘Let me see’ He demanded.

The peon opened the bag and took out the bottle with the skill of a snake charmer. It was the same snake which he saw in his dream. The snake gave him a fixed stare and something within him translated that stare into ‘Relieve me.’ He saved the snake which was to be dissected in the Faculty of Science.

SHRI DATTABAL IN WORLD RELIGIOUS CONFERENCES

Japan is a country of dreams and colours. It is one of the first rate countries of nations as far as the technological advancement is concerned. At the same time it is the country which has suffered form atom bomb the product of technological advancement. So it was decided to arrange a World Conference on Religion and Peace in this mortified country. Kyoto, where this conference was held, is the cultural center of Japan and th4e sessions of the conference were held in a massive, beautiful building of ‘The International Conference Hall.’

Shri DattaBal was invited to participate in this conference. He flew from Bombay Airport along with his secretary Shri M. N. Desai via Hongkong, Bankok, Taipeh and Osaka. Since he received the invitation very late, he had not prepared any of his speeches. But he entrusted the entire responsibility to the /divine and it’s guidance. He was accommodated by the sponsors in a beautiful hotel named, ‘Grand Hotel’ in Kyoto. While looking at the scene and beautiful garden through the window of the dining-hall he exclaimed, ‘I had foreseen this garden some years before on the astral plane.’

Nearly three hundred delegates attended this conference from all parts of the globe.

The first day of the conference was mainly meant for the discussion on ‘Hope for World Conference on Religion and Peace.’ Shri DattaBal took an active part in the discussion. The discussion was arranged in different work-shop sessions. Shri DattaBal said, ‘An individual should be trained to realize the inmost fundamental unity. This realization will make the individual realize that he is a wavelet on the infinite ocean of light and bliss. This realization should be channelised towards the outermost layer of society, then it should be percolated into psychological, economical dimensions of society. This process alone can effectuate the complete and integral transformation of society. The absolute in flux is Divine Love Constant and ceaseless radiation of this love can affect the structure of this universe. Methods such as discussions, gatherings together and speaking aloud cannot solve the intrinsic problems of an individual. The modern individual is a victim of problems in the realm of conscious and subconscious minds.

All the great prophets and founders of all religions have experience the fundamental unity behind the universe but according to space and time they revealed their special message because they had to adjust their inner realisation according to the need of time. Apparent differences in their teachings is due to environment. There is one more aspect i.e. the station of the prophets in the evolutionary scheme. But the eternal human values have remained undisturbed. If this conference of religionist desire to build perfect unity amongst different human groups it should provide conspicuous scope to each other’s innate problems such as racial crisis, color problems and conflicts and then an urgent efforts should be undertaken to unite all these groups together under one banner on the basis of realization, the fundamental unity behind the universe.’ The first speech of Shri DattaBal was studded with the references of many psychologist and mystics also. So it created a deep impact on the listeners. A priest from Singapore exclaimed. ‘It is a  new light on religion.’

The most sensational speech was on the ‘capital punishment.’ While discussing on human rights he said, ‘Criminals are the products of wrong economical, social and spiritual structure of society. As long as human beings do not improve these wrong structures, they have no right to give capital punishment. Capital punishment is a legalized brutality of governments. So it should be completely abolished form human society. The gospel of capital punishment takes for granted that n=human beings cannot improve and progress.’

The small speech by Shri DattaBal created a vital stir in the listeners. A Moslem delegate from Pakistan opposed Shri DattaBal vehemently quoting his book of religion. Shri DattaBal while answering him said ‘No religious book is an authority. It is a question of fundamental rights, they are to be abhorred.’ Mr. Macbride was the president of this workshop session. He personally agreed with Shri DattaBal's statement.

While speaking on human rights, he divided this aspect into three categories. Fist the biological, second the psychological and the third the spiritual.

To exist and lead a healthy life is a biological right of human beings: air and water pollution in technologically advanced countries is an aggression on the biological tights of human beings.

To be able to think freely and to evolve is the psychological right of human beings. The suggestibility of televisions, cinemas and posters is tremendous. This suggestibility is itself another aggression on the psychological right.

To grow in spirit is the spiritual right of human beings. Political, religious dogmas and social systems come in the way of this fundamental spiritual growth. This is an aggression on the spiritual right of human beings.

All these aggressions on human tights snatch away the intuitive freedom from human beings and make them robots acting according to the stimuli of suggestibility.

One of the interesting episodes in this conference took place when the discussion on human rights was in progress. A gentleman from Delhi attacked vehemently, ‘Hinduism, is the cradle of superstitions, it is Hinduism, that has given birth to untouchability, the most vicious crime against humanity. ‘Practically all the stalwarts of Hinduism present at this session were silent over this issue as the oration of this gentleman was quite effective, but Shri DattaBal, with his fiery zeal to protect the eternal values in Hinduism, spoke with a force, turned the tables against above mentioned gentleman. He said, ‘Sir, you are making a mistake. It is Hindu religion that speaks of the fundamental unity behind the organic and the inorganic structure of this universe. The realization of this fundamental cosmic unity is taught by the prophets of Hindus. The religion has never preached the untouchability and I challenge you Sir, to disprove my point. It is the superstition which has given birth to this problem of untouchbility. Superiority complex is innate in every human being and it is this complex that gives birth to untouchbility and color differences. Superiority is nothing but the refraction of the innermost being which is beyond the region of space and time. There is an urge for expression in the being. The moment you dive deep within yourself and act according to this urge, all the complexes will cease and you will realize that your fellow beings are part and parcel of the Divine. This realization alone can sublimate superiority complex. With social measures it will take another form and still linger. The problem is more psychological than social. He further said, ‘There are two sorts of struggles; one struggle fro existence and the other struggle for living. These are to be overcome, by constant realization.’ Turning to the assembly Shri DattaBal questioned, ‘Show me a single race or nation which is not victimised by superiority complex, hence untouchability?’ No one answered Shri DattaBal. The delegates were stupefied.

While speaking on the cause of suffering Shri DattaBal stated, ‘The cause lies in a peculiar phenomenon. Whenever men go against the urge of evolution which is helplessly carrying everything in this universe back to the divine. The friction is between evolutionary urge and your prejudices and preferences. The result is suffering. Only by tuning oneself integrally with the evolutionary process one can get rid of suffering. He further said, ‘Every atom of this universe is subjected to the pressure of evolution. There is a mute pressure. The pressure gives everything in the universe, an ability of transmission. Everything transmits out waves due to this pressure. It is a evolutionary pressure that makes a thing vibrate and transmit. So if the human beings transmit and project their love towards the universe they will reveal through them more of evolutionary urge. Frequently of divine love is the highest. Of this frequency or highest rate of vibrations is infused in everything, the evolutionary ascent will be accelerated. ‘According to modern scientists, ‘Very batting of the eyelids has effect on the interstellar system.’ Vibrations of love certainly will affect the cosmos – these super vibrations of love alone.

In one of his valuable luminous speeches he said, ‘Human beings are cells in the organic body of the divine. They interaffect each other. But the past primitive generation is more guided by instinct. The modern generation is more guided by intelligence and the future generations will be more guided by intution. We are undergoing a psychological revolution. At present we are changing we are changing the rung of intelligence and entering into the realm of intention. Instinct and intelligence are more guided by memories but not intution. So we should dive deep within ourselves for the guidance from intution.

At the nick of the moment it was decided that young religionists should meet together and discuss their problems. Addressing young religionists Shri DattaBal said, ‘Young religionists need not be stupefied by the sway of science. If the religion is the subjective discovery of truth through the subjective experimentation, science is the objective discovery of the truth through the objective experimentation though the goal is the same. Great scientist like Dr. Einstein believed in the cosmic intelligence, so-called atoms, neutrons and protons are nothing but the crystalised thought vibrations of this cosmic intelligence. So we are the culminating thought products of the divine. Even Dr. Edington believed in the concept of the universal mind.’

This speech of Shri DattaBal before the young religionists, was forceful and dynamic display of his luminous personality. His was the only speech which infused in the youth new light and vigour. Of course all the speeches of Shri DattaBal which I have quoted above are nothing but merely faint and meagere replicas of his original speeches. The reason is the speed of his oration was tremendous and the speeches were utterly inspired.

Shri DattaBal spoke twice in plenary session in the form of interruption. In one of the plenary session some one suggested that India has not signed on ‘Ban Atomic Weapon Pact’. Shri DattaBal got up and forcefully interrupted. ‘Do you expect a nation like India, which is miserably deceived by other nations should be blockheaded enough to sign such a pact?’ And he further elucidated his point by quoting the several incidences of foreign intrusions.

Shri DattaBal was deeply impressed by Japan’s culture and art, but he was terribly disappointed with socio-political nature of the religious conference. He said to me that such conference will have no effect on the world of opinion. While returning from Japan a gentleman from Singapore, who was also a delegate, said ‘I have listened very carefully to Shri DattaBal. And his speeches have aerated a deep impact on me.’

SHRI DATTABAL IN PANDHARPUR FOR VISHWA HINDU PARISHAD

Vishwa Hindu Parishad was one of the outstanding victories of Shri DattaBal. Nearly 20 to 25 thousand people had participated in this conference.

Shree DattaBal was introduced to the Parishad as the spiritual leader of the young generation. This statement was thunderously applauded by the audience. Shri DattaBal mainly spoke on the revival of Hinduism and Indian culture. Here one witnessed Shri DattaBal’s profound understanding of the hierarchy of the saints and their significance in the modern world. Hundreds of people flocked around Shri DattaBal to have a holy glimpsed of this lion amongst exponents of spiritual lore of India.

All India Ayyappa Seva Sangham, Quilon, one of the religious bodies of Kerala, had sponsored one “World Parliament of Religions” at Sastamkotah neat Quilon in Derals between 24th and 29th March 1971. Sastamkotah is one of the most beautiful spots in Kerala. Shri DattaBal was invited to this conference. After listening to Shri DattaBal’s first speech which surcharged the atmosphere of the conference, the sponsors of the conference made him the inaugurator of their “Silver Jubilee” function of their above mentioned institution. He was the youngest to get this honour. He was mane the president of the plenary session of the conference. He declined this offer due to his ill health. It is not surprising that people of Kerala called him second Vivekananda after listening to his torrential oratory. The impact which Shri Swami Vivekananda created at Chicago World Parliament of Religion, the same impact was created by Shri DattaBal in this parliament. One of the eminent professors of Kerala University said ‘Shri DattaBal is a storehouse of Spiritual energy and I glimpse in him second Swami Vivekananda.’

SHRI DATTABAL IN BOMBAY WORLD CONFERENCE

            (27th, 28th, 29th Nov. 1971)

At Birla Kreeda Bhavan, Bombay, Third World Parliament was  sponsored by ‘The  Spiritual Unity of Nations’ – an organization of England from 227th to 29th November 1971. Shri DattaBal was the main speaker on the very first day of this conference. Swami Chidananda introduced Shri DattaBal as the Meridian Sun of Spirituality.

After scientifically putting forth his new gospel of Love Divine, Shri DattaBal  summed up, his speech. Many representatives from foreign countries congratulated him for his speech.  Someone said rather enthusiastically, ‘All others were the stars and you were the Sun amongst these stars.’ The other said “Throughout my life I have never heard such a scientific exposition of spiritual laws.

SHRI DATTABAL IN BANKOK FOR ‘HINDU DHARMA SABHA’

            (224th March to 1st April 1974)

On the opening day of the one week’s conference held on behalf of Hindu Dharma Sabha on the eve of 4th centenary celebration of ‘Ramcharita Manas’ in Vishnu Mandir, Bankok, Thailand. The venue was beautifully decorated with fragrant and rainbow coloooured flowers and the elite dignitaries from Thailand and the invited guests from India, Nepal and Cylon were seated on the dias to inaugurate the conference. H. E. Dr. Sukich Nimman Haemindo, Dy. Prime Minister of Thailand was the chief guest of the conference.

Shri DattaBal in his speech said to the house-packed audience- ‘In Latin ‘Persona’ means outer mask. The word personality has come from this root word – Shri Ramchandra was not merely a personality, nor merely a social reformer, not religious concept but he was the hero of evolution. He accelerated the evolutionary process into sub-humans and transformed them into humans. He turned human beings into God-heads, Shri Ramchandra was the materialised force of love which is primordial. Force of love is not merely individuals force but cosmic. As experiments of American Horticulturist Luther Burbank show that love can remove thorns and spikes so also Shri Ramchandra demonstrated that love can accelerate human evolution. Lord Buddha represented compassion through his personality. Shri Ramchandra represented purity. Every spiritual giant represents different aspects of divinity. Since time immemortal India and Thailand have not only culturally linked but spiritual united. If the spiritual unity is to be maintained it can be done on the basis of teachings of stalwarts like Shri Krishna, Shri Ramchandra and Lord Buddha.’ Amongst audience were Mr. S. S. Apte, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Mr. Rajguru Bomdev Muni, H. L. Ramesh Bhandari, Ambassador of India and many eminent people form Inida and Thailand. The sponsorer Mr. Chintamani Tripathi said after hearing Shri DattaBal that the whole gathering was very highly talking about the magnetic, illumining and  soul stirring speech by Shri DattaBal, on 29th.

He delivered scholarly discourse on ‘Yoga’ before gathering of 300 Buddhist monks in a Buddhistic Monastry with demonstration. On 28th the National Library of Bangkok had arranged a speech on ‘Yoga and India spiritualism.’ The venue was over packed beyond capacity by ladies and gents and students. He said that the purpose of yoga is not limited only to the discipline of body and mind but should be the science to locate the origin of life. The aim of Yoga is the ceaseless search for knowledge. The practice of ‘Prana-Ayama’ dose not aim at the concentration of mind but rejuvenated the cellular structure in the body and increases the longevity of life. A youth posed a question, ‘Whether practice of Yoga-Sadhana helps to conquer the sexual passion?’ Shri DattaBal said ‘the aim is certainly to transform but not to conquer. The transformed energy becomes capable to be cosmic. ‘Shava-Asana’ and ‘deep breathing’ are certainly immensely helpful that L.S.D. and Marijuana.’

The famous newspapers of Bangkok, ‘Bangkok-Post’ and ‘The Nation’ specifically interviewed him and wrote about his versatile style, fabulous knowledge and fantastic capacity to interpret it. Shri DattaBal not only illumined the Thai people with the precious spiritual India philosophy but enriched the glory of the Mother Country by his magnetic and eloquent oratory. He returned to India on 30th March 1974.

 HIS MESSAGE

The universe is undergoing a process of evolution. This word evolution has sprung up from the Latin root word evolutes and evolution is successive manifestation of the divine. Science is an objective discovery of truth through objective experimentation, spirituality is subjective discovery of truth through subjective means. Projection of divine love is a path to accelerate the evolutionary process. Everything in this universe is trying to go back to its origin. So Shri DattaBal feels that life is origin seeking Love Divine. As human being is a part and parcel of nature, he is also subjected to evolution. He is not merely a culminating product of biological evolution but an active agent who is destined to accelerate the process of evolution.

It is only by positively utilizing the very activity of thought and mind for the sake of evolution, human being can evolve to more elevated state of existence. Our thoughts are the stimuli to set motion in human beings to grow to a more evolved state of consciousness. The negative thoughts retard the evolution in nature. Hence, it is primal necessity of human being to help and co-operate with the evolutionary urge in nature by projecting thoughts of love. It will ultimately build up a healthy personality and a healthy society.

Present day scientists are prophets of the mundane world. They tell us that even batting of an eyelid is affecting the interstellar system. In this statement of theirs, is the solid proof of the wisdom of Indian Yogis, who proclaim that the thoughts create destiny. Thought is a creator of destiny. Thought is a creator of destiny. So if you want to create the kingdom of God the prime necessary is to project the thoughts of love and harmony. Projection of love brings about the revolution in the field of consciousness. Thus projection of love is not a technique but a genuine poetry of life. But people crucify love by giving it a form and name.

Present human race is undergoing psychological and spiritual change. Firstly human beings were guided by instinct then by intelligence. Now the time has come for human beings to derive guidance from intution. Instinct was blind, intelligence-cerebral and intution fundamental. Actually in the modern era the center of consciousness is shifting from intelligence to intution, due to this change there is a lot of psychological crisis in the present generation. Man need not be afraid of it, it will settle down by itself.

Dr. Eddington says, ‘The only plausible conclusion of the present discoveries of science is the concept of Universal Mind.’ This Universal mind is not myth, not superstition. It is the Universal mind that is evolving from matter to consciousness. Every atom in the cosmos is practically crying for the divine. Nature does not want a superman of Nitzche because this superman thought biologically perfect is ultimately a man of muscle without love. Real superman are those who radiate love towards the whole creation. Divine alone is having the highest rate of vibrations. So it alone can accelerate the process of evolution in animate and inanimate, in organic and inorganic. Luther Burbank was a great horticulturist. His experiments on cacti showed that the thorny bush became thornless by the projection of love.

            HOW TO PRACTISE

In our mission, (Shri DattaBal Mission Divine, Kolhapur, Maharashtra) we undertook one experiment. We selected two small plants of the same variety and of the same size. We gave them equal amount of nourishment, open air and sunlight. One of these was selected on which projected of love, was done. First we conveyed to the plant telepathically our love and affection. Then we in friendliness suggested to the plant to grow vigourously and rapidly and to accelerate its growth. We ultimately found out that the plant upon which we were projecting our love had actually grown three inches taller than the other inspite of the equal nourishment, open air and sunlight.

Project your love on flowers and notice the results. You will find those particular lasting longer than the others upon which you have not projected your love. Your thoughts of love enter into the flowers, plants, animals and human beings and become a life energy for them. Love becomes knowledge for ignorant, healing for the sick.

This practice will gradually teach you that everything in this nature is evolving towards God. A tree or a domestic animal is brought in your contact by great nature, but with the view of mutual utility but with the view of helping each other’s evolution. So projection of love upon  a tree, animal or human beings is only the relationship expected of us by the Devine.

This practice will develop within us an understanding that love alone can transcend us out of our petty little differences, complexes and many material problems and create the harmonious feeling between man and man, between race and race, between nation and nation.

HIS PHILOSOPHY & SOCIAL WORK

HIS PHILOSOPHY

Greek philosopher Pythagoras in the sixth century B.C. spoke of himself as a ‘Philosophos’ or lover of wisdom. Shri DattaBal, is, I believe, philosophies from the East.

Gibran’s philosophical depth, Ravindranath’s aesthetic intution and vision of Swami Vivekananda are synthesized in Shri DattaBal’s philosophy.

For him love is of three kinds: One Carnal, second Platonic and third the Devine. Procreation is the sole purpose of sex love. It is physical attraction in two persons but when it is sublimated it becomes a finer and wider force stimulating creative faculties in man and regenerating his personality. This something like water transforming into vapour. If this vapour is rightly utilized, if becomes a great force. Similarly, if you sublimate carnal love you will be a new creative man. But here is a danger. If your values and motives are not genuinely humanitarian, you sublimated energy may take care to expand that creative force into still deeper and sublime recess of consciousness. Platonic love is in the realm of duality. It is between two persons even though pure. When the love takes the most original divine form it becomes all pervasive. That is the final from of Love.

            RELIGION

Religions are the different pathways towards the ultimate reality. Every religion tried to express was a needed one during that path of space and time. The true spirit of region lies in liberality and love.

           SCIENCE

Shri DattaBal rightly acknowledged the debt of science and he has very aptly remarked ‘Science in future will be the practical demonstration of metaphysical truths/ growth of science is not detrimental to spirituality but we should fear the scientific superstition. Science should not be the iron framework of sense data, instead it should be the progressive peep into the unknown. Science will be best friend of metaphysics. The field theory of Einstein is an unconscious effort to synthesize the material and non-material. The very effort indicates inclination of physics towards metaphysics. All the research in present scientific domain is only a study of effect and not of the cause.

  TOC

           ART

Shri DattaBal says: Art is essentially an expression of the deepest soul in you. He disagrees with those who say that art is meant either for society or for one self. Art is a motiveless spontaneous expression of soul in you.

Piccaso’s art is an effort to diverge from the from. It tries to depict a thought behind form. But it is not necessary to deform the form.

            ASCETICISM

For Shri DattaBal asceticism is a form of detachment but surely it is not abstinence form work, not refraining from accomplishing your cherished ideals. Women should not be regarded as a gate to hell. True asceticism makes a man pure and bright like a pearl that is formed in the oyster shell after ceaseless turmoil. When light comes there is no darkness. When you become ascetic threw is not frustration.

           HUMAN SUFFERING

The cause lies in s peculiar spiritual phenomenon. Whenever men go against the urge of evolution which is helplessly carrying everything is this universe back to the Devine, the friction is caused. The friction is between evolutionary urge and your prejudices ad preference. The result is suffering. Only by tuning oneself integrally with the evolutionary process one can get rid of suffering.

           MESSAGE TO THE YOUTHS

Shri DattaBal says ‘The dnty of the young generation is to take the cognizance of the psychological revolution in them. To be a youth is the rarest opportunity. Os without wasting your creative energy through sex and the other pursuits of pleasure, store up these energies and sublimate and ultimately divinise. At present the aspect of divinisation is completely forgotten but it s to be revived and re-established. Such divinised youth alone can bridge the hiatus between science and religion. The challenge to the youngsters should be solved by youngsters alone and not by older generation. Instead of spending the energy on the work of violence and nonviolence youths should build up their positive personality.

            HIS SOCIAL WORK

Shri DattaBal established a youth organization to work on social level. Many students from different casts and religions came together and worked for the upliftment of downtrodden. Medical students collected handful of food grains from every farmer in the district and tones of grain was given to the poor boys hostel of Willigdon College, Sangli. Other branch helped the physically handicapped organization in Maharashtra and Karnataka States. Some youths staged entertainment programs and collected the fund of  draught relief. Even from the lakhs of people who attended Shri DattaBal’s lecture series in Bombay, were appealed to donate for famine struck people. Thousands of rupees were collected and handed over to the Mayor of Bombay and Chief Minister of Maharashtra in 1971.

Some medical practitioners in Bombay work in slum areas. They have started free dispensaries and Montessory schools.

Though Shri DattaBal is called as the Youngest Godman in India he does not sit on ivory tower and give lectures but he is well aware of the meseres of the poor, pains of the lepers and physically handicapped. He tries in his own way to heal the sick and preach the Gospel of Divine Love.

WHAT THE NEWSPAPERS SAY

He does not want himself to be called as His Holiness. He is not bothered about tongue-twisting titles being appended to his name either as a prefix to as a suffix. He believed in no cult and no caste of religion. In fact, he does not even like to be called as adhyatmavadi. Jeevanvadi is a description dearer to him; surely not many saints would like to be called thus.

What does he mean by describing himself as a Jeevanvadi? Shri DattaBal-the luminous eyed bearded and handsome thinker-philosopher from Maharashtra who is now in Bangalore enthralling intellectuals and the unlettered alike by his fascinating discourses on his pet theme ‘Divine Love ‘ replied: ‘I believe in no abstractions. I am more concerned with the modern man and his problems and I want my philosophy or whatever I say to help him sort them out. I have no use for high-falutin end abstract thoughts.’

The most interesting aspect of Shri DattaBal’s approach to philosophy is that he acknowledges the debt of science, which he believes will, in future, be the practical demonstration of metaphysical truths. Ask him to decipher any problem you pose, and he will start off which a scientific exposition of the problem and evolve his own philosophical solution to it. Where a problem needs a political analysis, he can magnificently rise to the occasion there also, so deeply rooted as he is in the probings and teachings of Marx, Engles and all the political masters of the modern world. Where it is a psychological probe that is needed to thrash out the problem in all its aspects, Shri DattaBal is ready with what Freud or any of the modern psychologist had to say in the matter. When he debunks some of their theories he does not do so in the wanton spirit of an iconoclast but with the deep sense of perception of a thinker with will reasoned approach to life.

            MODEST

For a young man of just 30, all his fabulous knowledge and the fantastic capacity to interpret, it is nothing short of a divine gift, but Shri DattaBal is disarming modest about himself. His talk is dazzling as his penetrating and glistening eyes which pierce you through his glasses but he does not make any deliberate efforts at dazzling, it comes naturally to him. Shri DattaBal has the real looks of a seer and is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding representatives in Indian wisdom.

The brilliant young seer classifies the thought processes of human being into three distinct stages. He started off as creature of instinct in the early days of his evolution and passed on to the stage of intellect and is now on the threshold of a phase of intution – the most desirable phase he believes. According to him man is now on the new path of perception which he can acquire through divine love, which is what he is propagating form the nooks and corners of the country. His entire approach to life is the approach of  love. ‘Life is an origin-seeking love’ he once said. An admirer of this mystic once wrote that Gibran’s philosophical depth, Ravindranath’s aesthetic intution and the vision of Vivekananda are synthesized in Shri DattaBal’s philosophy of life, and one sitting with him sure to be convinced of the veracity of this analysis.

            WHAT INDIA LACKS

It is difficult to transact with an intellectual so resplendent as Shri DattaBal on the same wavelength but, at a recent news conference, reporters had the occasion to exchange certain thought s with him,.  One of the questions he had to answer was whether Indians did suffer from too mush of spiritualism? Pat came the reply that Indians suffered form too much of religion a not too much of spiritualism.

Shri DattaBal, however, declares that the was 100 percent convinced, about India’s pre-eminent position to give spiritual lead to the world, because its base was strong.

Was he not hoping for too much when he said that worked was on the threshold of a phase of intution, when it was on full of political activity and when its entire course was charted by philistines who believed in no such high realms of thinking line between intution and instinct was very thin, as the modern being looked at it, and that there was more barbaric instinct in politics, but judging from the way the affairs of the United Nations would have to become a more psychological then political organization in the days to come.

THE SCIENTIST GURU

‘Scientist approach to God.’ The 32 year old Shri DattaBal believes that the purpose of life is to seek Divine Love. He advocates transforming sexual energy into platonic love and ultimately Divine Love. ‘Remember, sex should not be a ruling master but should only be an obedient slave.’ Shri DattaBal’s scientific exposition of spiritual laws has impressed many. He is greater than Khalil Gibran,’ says the well known philosopher and revolutionary, Senapati Bapat.

THE SCIENTIST GURU: Younger Gurus wrap their messages in scientific modernity. Amongst the youngest of the galaxy to win recognition is the 32 year old DattaBal of Kolhapur in Maharashtra.

DattaBal sums up his message in one cryptic sentence: ‘Life is an origin seeking Love Devine.’ Love, says the young seer, can be carnal, platonic or spiritual. If you sublimate carnal love you will become a mew creative man, he assures.

DattaBal’s pronouncement of solar energy is an example of his ‘scientific’ approach. Do you know that is at the root of a Sun ray? Hydrogen explosions? Electromagnetic waves? Or any other such stuff? – he asks. And replies: It all may be there but at its source there is the tremendous force of love that is trying to manifest itself through the Sun – the Love of the Divine towards His creation.’
