Air-to-Cloth Ratios | Dimensions and Specifications |
Industries throughout the world rely on fabric dust collectors to remove particulate from process and ventilation air and to recover valuable resources from many manufacturing processes. The Deidan fabric dust collectors add a dimension of versatility and diversity with a multitude of designs, thus allowing you to select the best model to solve your dust control needs. We also specialize in custom design, dust collectors can be manufactured according to your specific needs.
We offer two dust collector designs, either top entry or hopper entry, depending on your particular needs. Top entry is the most effective design for fine dust. Since the air flow is downward, it aids the migration of fine particulate toward the hopper. Hopper entry is the proven choice for coarse, heavy dust and high dust loads which require air-to-cloth ratios of 6:1 or less. Heavy particulate naturally move downward to the hopper. Our dust collectors are designed for lower cost maintenance and installation featuring convenient bag removal and a modular construction consisting of a top planum, a housing and a hopper section. No matter what the design, these marks of superior craftsmanship remain constant.
The table below lists air-to-cloth ratios for a few applications, use it as a guide in helping you decide which of the two designs will work for you.
Dust Type | Ratio (CFM/sq. ft.) |
---|---|
Alumina | 8 - 10 : 1 |
Boiler - Flyash | 4 - 5 : 1 |
Carbon Black | 5 - 6 : 1 |
Cement | 5 - 8 : 1 |
Coal | 8 - 10 : 1 |
Fertilizer | 8 - 9 : 1 |
Grains, Feed | 14 - 15 : 1 |
Lead Oxide | 6 - 8 : 1 |
Limestone | 8 - 10 : 1 |
Plastics | 7 - 9 : 1 |
Rock Dust | 8 - 10 : 1 |
Sawdust | 10 - 12 : 1 |
Soap, Detergents | 5 - 6 : 1 |
Tobacco | 10 - 12 : 1 |
Air-to-Cloth ratios are provided to acertain what kind of dust collector is necessary for different applications. The higher the ratio, the finer the dust, the lower the ratio, the heavier the dust. Also, for each 1000 CFM of dust-laden air, only about 1 SCFM of dry, clean compressed-air will be required. For sizing the dust collector, the following formula might come in handy:
Gas Flow (Air Volume) Required --------------------------------------- = Cloth Filtering Velocity (Air-to-Cloth Ratio) Area
