Mark Hatting, although an enigma to most people, has led a relatively simple, commonplace life. Born in Santa MariaCalifornia in 1984, he was 'a long and awaited blessing'. He traveled with his parents across the country numerous times due mostly to job relocations.  By the time Mark was five years old, he had been in thirty-eight states.

Upon returning to California permanently, he fell victim to the agonies of divorce. His parents separated and divorced in 1992, upon which he spent the next eleven years living with his mother in Santa Maria, moving twice. He still managed to keep a good head on his shoulders, mostly due to his navet to the world. During this eleven years, Mark quickly adapted to music, and became a mainstay in his life shortly after that, becoming a virtue.

Mark began playing at the age of two, but didn't start studying seriously until age seven, to a private teacher in the area who nurtured his ability and his passion for the Arts and music. Mark quickly fell in love with the Arts.  During this time, Mark was also deeply involved with church activities. It was no surprise to see him in church five days a week, working on music, sprucing up the church, or helping people.

In 1997, Mark toured the country through his church with a group of young people who spread the Gospel of Christ all throughout the world known as The Continentals. On this tour, nicknamed the 'American History Tour,' Mark saw attractions from a TV appearance on "Prime Time Country" on TNN all the way up to the Freedom Walk in Boston. Mark was just twelve years old.  The week he returned from touring, he graduated from elementary school with honors and was awarded the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence.

Mark continued to flourish through junior high school (where he received the Presidential Award a second time) all the way through high school and even into college. He is maintaining a 3.6 GPA, and is currently enrolled at Weber State University in Ogden, UT, and plans to receive an MBA degree with a minor in music.

In 2000, Mark was the pianist for the show "Godspell" and quickly took a liking to the show. Mark had always loved the theatre, but after "Godspell," he knew that music was for him, as opposed to acting.  In 2002 and 2003, however, he returned to the stage as an actor, playing Judas Iscariot in an original drama written by the Associate Pastor at his church at the time, "One Man, One King."

Mark had established a reputation all around the community as both a local favorite for community fuctions as well as a marvelous entertainer and composer. In high school, he composed original background (called 'program') music for two shows: "The Miracle Worker" and "It's A Wonderful Life," both in the Spring and Fall of 2001, respectively. During the time he was composing for "It's A Wonderful Life," he was also performing at his local theatre for an original production "...and all that...," a musical revue which showcased some of the classics by Gershwin, Loesser, Carmichael, and Kander & Ebb. It was then that Mark was first really exposed to, and grew to love, showtunes.

Mark has performed for numerous individuals in his hometown of Santa Maria, both in the middle- and upper-classes. On some occasions, he was asked to play the day of the event, but still gave a top-notch performance.

In 2002, he began producing his own projects, whipping out two CDs less than a year apart. His first, "Glory, Honor, Majesty," which showcased many sacred hymns in the church, received raves from most who bought it. His follow-up album, "One Love, One Passion, One Lord," which was mainly dedicated to contemporary worship songs, also received raves.

In 2003, the most pivotal turn in his life came, when he requested to be the pianist for another version of "Godspell" and eventually became the music director for the show. Mark's passion for the theatre and music deepened as he worked with some incredibly talented musicians.

The show opened in May and closed in June, on a limited run. There he also met his now-former love, Amanda. Together, they enriched each other in the Arts while building a strong passion for the Arts as they continued to perform all around the area long after the show had closed.

In 2004, however, he began to realize that he needed to continue his life, and for that to become accomplished, he saw that he needed to get away from Santa Maria. An opportunity came that he could not refuse...beginning a new life in another state: Utah. Although he knew he would miss California, he remained confident that it was the right thing to do.

Since he has moved to Utah, he has explored his musical passion like never before. He has composed songs for both Linda Eder and Martina McBride (look for "Back When He Was Mine" soon), and plans to become an established composer and entertainer in the music industry.  He is also presently working on two musicals, one based on the novel, "Wuthering Heights."  The other is a musical based on his father's book, "Street Souls," which chronicles the life of one man during his life on the streets of downtown San Franscisco. While he is working on these two musicals, he is in the process of composing a four-movement piano concerto along with somewhere between ten and twelve standalone compositions.  He is also conceiving his next series of CDs, which presently encompasses ten CDs or so that feature both classics and new standards of all genres of music.

Mark currently resides in Utah with his father (Bill), stepmother (Cynthia), and brother (Steven).
