1-2-2 Weave Forecheck

This is used primarily for when the breakout is set up behind the net (the most common breakout). This is also the safest forecheck, so we will use this until we are ready to get more complicated.

Our responsibilities are as follows:

F1: Starts the system. Circles as shown, and then replaces F2 with high man responsibilities.

Note that F2 and F3 stay outside high face-off circles until they are ready to move.

F2: Watch attacker behind net and/or attacking center if he approaches your side. Time the start of your swing so that F1 replaces you: do not leave too early.

F3: Hold position above circle, reading opposing center. Attack first pass.

D1 and D2: Guard blueline middle area and read attacking wings. Each D is responsible for a winger: follow them out if they break for the neutral zone.

Other considerations:

Keep cycling while puck is behind net to maintain momentum.

It is important to be fast-thinking so you are ready to switch roles in an instant: ex/ when F1 finishes cycle, and replaces F2, his job immediately changes. Or, when the opposing center cycles or changes sides, F2 and F3 change roles on who covers him...
