FAST
BREAKOUT
|
INSTRUCTIONS This will be our default breakout because it works better when we are pressured. Previously we were doing more of a Controlled breakout, which is more practical when we have more time: such as on the power-play. A defenseman in our corner with the puck initiates the play. If he does not have time, he can pass BEHIND net to his partner, and start from the other side: forwards be alert! There are TWO distinct passing patterns: PASSING PATTERN 1: Defenseman exercises option of passing ahead to either C or RW who are both curling to his side. Then C and RW come out together to overload strong side. PASSING PATTERN 2: If the LD passes to the RW, he then has the option of passing to the C along the boards who passes up to LW, or he can carry out himself, or he can pass to the LW. In any case, the RW and LW overload the defenseman on that side! NOTES: The puck is NOT carried behind the net. Create a 2 on 1 on opposing defenseman.
