Europe TripMilan was only graced with my presence for one night, as there really isn't much there for the tourist. Just thought I'd pop in, as it's quite famous, and it was a convenient stepping stone to Switzerland. However, it was worth a look in just for the jaw-dropping cathedral they have! Nothing prepares you for the sheer magnificence that awaits you as you enter the central square where it is located. It has millions of spires, spires on top of spires. Inside is no less impressive. Huge columns are shrouded in dark, gothic gloom. You can also walk around the roof, not offering great views of the city particularly, but giving you an idea of what the city looks like. It's very busy, very business-orientated. But there was a castle to look around too, giving you information about Milan's history. Stayed in a one-star hotel, and woke up the next day with bites all over my face. Ah, well. |
