General Colchester ACF is located at the TA center next to Abbey Fields in the Garrison. Army Cadets is on every Tuesday from 19:30 - 21:30. Everyone is welcome providing you are between the ages of 13 and 18. You are invited to pay a voluntary contribution of 50p each week, which goes towards paying for equipment and services. After you have attended Cadets for three weeks you can join the ACF for 15 which covers the cost of your uniform (with the exception of boots). Half way through the evening we stop for a break where you can purchase refreshments. Colchester is the home of the parachute regiment and so the Colchester ACF wear the parachute regiment cap badge. How the ACF works When you join the ACF you will start off in the 'basics', here you will learn the very basics. Once you have passed this you will be promoted to a pre-star, one of five levels (pre-star, star-one, star-two, star-three, star-four). To pass a star level you must complete all the syllabus. On completing a star level you would be awarded with a badge which is sewn on to your brazzard (attached to your sleeve). Aswell as your star badges you also have the chance to gain promotion to NCO. For more information on star levels please see the 'Star Levels' page. The Army Cadet Force Charter The Army Cadet Force is a National Voluntary Youth Organisation.
