Ultimate white pages: This website is superb for searches in the USA (white pages and yellow pages). For searches worldwide, find the Telephone Directory for the country of your choice. For searches in the UK, try the British Telecom website. Once you have found your friend's address in the UK, you can find the postal code on the Royal Mail website, which you can then use to find out how to get there with a Map.
News: If you do not listen to the BBC news on shortwave radio, ITN has a superb news website.
Vintage Car Photo Gallery: Visit my photo gallery of vintage cars. These photos were taken in Dick's Classic Car Museum and the Central Texas Museum of Automotive History. If you do not have the opportunity to visit either museum, I hope you will enjoy my photos online. This car photo gallery has over 180 photos on seven pages!
Cars: If you are thinking about buying a vintage car, take a look at these scans from old editions of Consumer Reports to judge the repair history of the car before you buy:
1978-83
72-77
70-73
66-71
63-68
Cars: If you are thinking about buying a new car, read this first. A good vintage vehicle is a much smarter buy than a new vehicle. My mechanic is Joel Crutcher [(512) 576-7505]. He is a mobile mechanic, working on vintage cars as well as newer models in the Austin area. Joel's work is outstanding. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
Cars: Look up information about the used car you want at Autobyinternet. Also see Autosite.
Jupiter: a few photos of Jupiter and the moon above Austin.
Austin Music: Support live music in Austin. Here are three local bands: take a walk on the wild side!
Immigration Problem? Mr. Wellington Smith is an attorney here in Austin, Texas. Call him at (512) 476-7163. His specialty is immigration problems: his website has lots of good information and answers to questions about immigration into the United States. He also collects Elliott Clocks.
Eco-Inspections: Roland Huettel offers building inspection services for homes and businesses in the Austin and Central Texas area. Anyone considering to buy a home or business in Austin should call Roland at (512) 784-3429 before investing.
Walker Tire Co.: serving Austin since 1934 and offering Michelin tires since 1953, longer than any other Michelin store in the United States. Forget the big box stores and support our local mom-and-pop businesses!
Mosheim Mansion: Step back in time and visit Carol Hirschi's exceptionally elegant Mosheim Mansion in Seguin, Texas. Call the Mosheim Mansion at (830) 372-9905 to experience an example of what a truly fine home was once like, for weddings, anniversary parties, corporate events, or for a family get-together.
Murphy's Steakhouse: Step back a hundred years when you visit Murphy's Steakhouse in Winchester, Texas, about 13 miles East of Smithville, between Austin and La Grange. Their food is superb, and the nostalgic atmosphere brings me back whenever I can get there.
Ayraamfarms: near Kingsbury, Texas. My neighbour and I drove from Austin to pick up an organic pig, freshly slaughtered and prepared before we arrived. Aaron Pierson and his family raise grass-fed Black Angus beef, grain-fed hogs, Nubian milk goats, paint horses, and chickens. We got a tour of the farm and were very impressed by what we saw. Anyone in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and everywhere in between should visit Ayraamfarms to get the finest organic meat, fresh from the family farm, or call Aaron at (512) 644-7652 to arrange for a shipment package of organic Black Angus beef or organic pork to your home.
WHFoods: George Mateljan's website about nutrition and cooking has the most information about foods I have ever seen anywhere on the internet. Read, for example, about why you should avoid mass-produced beef and chicken, and why kidney beans and lentils are really good for your health. Their site search page offers only a hint as to how much information is on their magnificent website!
The Missions of San Antonio: visit the Spanish missions in San Antonio, Texas.
Minimum Payments: use this calculator to find many years it will take to pay off your credit card if you only make the minimum payments.
Santo Domingo: photo gallery showing the Dominican Republic the way I remember it, not the way you see in the tourist books. My family lived there for 27 years. Anyone planning a vacation should consider Santo Domingo as their next destination. As the first European city in America, its historical monuments and history offer so much more than the isolated beach resorts.
Social Stratification: Sociology students will be interested to read Dr. Cecil Headrick's thesis, explaining how the American Dream was systematically denied to the majority of Americans. Though it was written in 1941, so much of it remains true today!
Genealogy: the Headrick Family tree. Originally from Scotland, William Headrick emigrated to America in 1753. His descendants settled in Greeneville, Tennessee. I am a ninth generation American and a son of the Revolution. I have ancestors from Finland (Jakobstad), Scotland (Perthshire), France (Marseille), and England (Norfolk). Records of some of my French ancestors, the Delascours, go back as far as 1420. Find your ancestors on Geneanet, and build a website about your family tree.
| University of St. Andrews: This was the place to study. St. Andrews was the oldest university in Scotland, in the Top Five, and fit for a prince. The work was overwhelming, no time for golf. I spent the best two years of my life here. Every day in St. Andrews was like living in history. This is where I became interested in watches and clocks. Very traditional atmosphere.

| College of William and Mary: in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. Alma Mater of Thomas Jefferson. If you prefer work that is not overwhelming and an exceptionally quiet, traditional atmosphere in the United States, this is the place. |
