One great thing about being a woman is the opportunity to join women's on-line groups and clubs.  There are quite a lot of them around; some of them are webrings with a small friendship group attached; others are huge organisations with committees, competitions, awards and mailing list.  But in all of them, you will find a ready welcome and a friendly "face".
