First Journey to Beautiful Bornholm

After camp 2 I got the opportunity to take a nice little ferry ride to the island of Bornholm. It is a very unique island with a very distinct character. It is a part of Denmark, but is situated a lot closer to Sweden. The dialect called Bornholmsk from what I can tell is a mixture of the sing song Swedish tongue and Danish words.

It was like an 8 hour ferry ride on which I got to know the other exchange students who also got this opportunity. (The only other person I knew at that point was JP) I liken it to an adventure of sorts... and adventures help people bond. Of course everyone looked a mess after an 8 hour ferry ride where we slept on the floor and stayed up half the night.

Bornholm I still believe is one of the most beautiful locations in Denmark... rolling hills, pretty sunsets and nice people for the most part.(Though it was also the first time I had experience with ignorant hate in Denmark) I was there to talk about Canada to the kids ... they were having some sort of cultural festival. In that time we did quite a bit of bonding, drinking and all around fun stuff. The one night I still remember clearly is outside of a bar where a bunch of neo nazi's decided to make trouble. That's the ignorant hate I was talking about earlier.

Anyways all in all it was a kick ass experience and I longed to go back afterwards... which I did get a chance to again later on during the exchange. But this is my first trip... where I met many good friends.
