My heart is aching
I wish that you
knew
all the things I've
kept inside
wanting to tell
you
Can I be honest
and tell you how much it hurts
knowing I'm second best
It's your son that comes first
You said you'd fight
tooth and nail for your kids
what about me then
surely I also have needs
I wanted your protection
surely you must have known
How many warnings
did you need to be shown?
Now you want my forgiveness,
support and advice...
where were you -
did you not hear my cries
I tried to end it all
when I was still young
Did you hear no warning bells
Were you deaf to my crying song?
Now many years later
with the truth revealed
you're still making the same mistake,
refusing to yield
Thinking you're righteous
and God will forgive
Surely He will never
forget I believe
Children should be cherished
you are there to protect
Don't neglect your duties
and leave space for regret.
