Scandalous Act

How many more
lives to be lost
before sanity returns
and the killing stops

Pushing and shoving
it all gets too much
innocent people dying
when football fans rush

Once the calm returns
and quiet fills the air
people are filled with horror
looking at death's cold stare.

in a stampede during a soccer match on 11 April 2001
