The word Logos is the Greek word which is conveyed in the English as word. Words
to us are means of communication with varied meanings that are conveyed in many
ways based on
culture, education, attitudes, ect. With God words and actions are one and the same,
when he speaks , it becomes reality. God spoke and the universe came
into existence, he did not form the universe out of existing matter, he spoke and it
was so. The Universe in all its beauty and complexity and vastness beyond are
limited ability to fathom, was first in the mind of God, and
God conveyed his thoughts into words. Genesis 1:1 says that "In the beginning God
created the Heavens and the earth. The word beginning speaks of the reality of
time, time is a creation a part of the universe as real as the planets and the stars
(the scientists will tell you that). When Adam and Eve where in the garden they had
no concept of time they had no concept of a end all they knew of was the
ever-present "now". God said that in the day they eat of tree of good and evil they
will surely die.
The concept of death was beyond them since they where not prisoners of time where
one grows old decays and dies. All they had to rely on was Gods word,
unfortunately they did not trust in what God said as being true. This is the battle
that every believer faces will we trust in what God has said even when every reality
before our eyes is in contradiction to Gods spoken word. The Gospel of John
chap 1:1 says In the beginning was the word (logos) and the word(logos) was with
God and the word (logos) was God. God becomes man in the person of the the Lord
Jesus Christ. The one whom it says in the book of Hebrews spoke the worlds into
existence literally struck a tent in human flesh and became the word
incarnate . Who dies on a cross in a testimony of love (love for the Father and love
for us) written in blood (the lamb slain from the foundation of the world).
This Jesus who shows himself to be the greatest example of the life of faith, and
because of his faitfulness as the book of Phillipians says " God highly exalted him
and gave him a name that is above every name that at the name of Jesus every knee
shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of the
Father". Jesus being the example (the Author and Finisher of Faith) shows what God
will do to for those who trust in him though it may take the judgment of eternity to
see the results of faith.
