Known superhuman powers: Possessing all the powers of the previous
Spider-Women, she can stick to walls, fire bio-blasts, creates psionic webs, and
has tentacles that sprout from her back. The new Spider-Woman also has the
powers of the mysterious Madame Web giving her psychic sensory powers, including
clairvoyance, telepathy, precognition, and the ability to sense psionic powers
in others. In addition to all of her other abilities, Spider-Woman also
possesses the ability to fly, unassisted through the air.
History: Mattie Franklin, a 15 year old girl, took her father's place at
an arcane ceremony called the Gathering of Five, which financier Norman Osborne
presided over. Through it, she acquired the gift of infinite power. With this
gift, Mattie first assumed the identity of her idol, the amazing Spider-Man, in
his absence. But with his return to active status, she took another related
identity that of the newest Spider-Woman. Since that fateful day, Mattie has
attempted to learn to control her new found abilities as she battles the
super-powered enemies that beset New York City.
