Origins.
The Hampstead Plobreacht Society was founded in the early days of Caer NeoChaillach. Being used to more humble surroundings, the MacRogues felt out of place and uncomfortable with all the (relative) splendors of their new home. Fearful that pleasant surroundings would dull their well-honed battle skills (taunting, evasion, and misdirection), they sought far and wide for something to make Caer NeoChaillach a more excruciating place to be. From accross the swamp they heard the answer: Bagpipes.
In an instant (or a generation) the clan had a new motto, "Not Enough Bagpipes" (see Library for complete list of clan mottos). The Piobaireachd Society was formed, then renamed the next day after the Laird's scribe misspelled the lettering on the Music Room door.
The Society's purpose was to collect as much bagpipe music as could be had. In its early days, that meant collecting pipers, not all of whom came willingly (hence the restraints on the east wall). Now, however, the Society relies mainly on recorded music (a motion is being considered to reinstitute a limited "catch and release" program).
Here are the current castle favorites, and some favorite Society resources.
This is what happens when a small town in New Hampshire tries to spell "piobaireachd." |
