Exodus Chap 1 v16 Eugenics at it's BEST! How the pro-life/pro-choice debate would have raged here! odd though, if they DID this, although it would decrease the # of potential male warriors, it STILL leaves lots of fertile females left - if ruthlessly done, it would ultimately cause all males to doe off, so only older females remained to be swallowed up by the Egyptian gene pool, by the Egyptian culture; Chap 2 v1-10 what a WONDERFUL sense of humor God has! Pharaoh say's HE'LL kill all of God's people and instead God has HIM footing the bill to PAY to RAISE the one who would deliver them ALL! AND has him paying the childs OWN mother to boot! v23 why is it that all the GOOD stuff gets lost when a good king dies, but the bad stuff of the wicked king gets perpetuated? Chap 5 v2, 5 The 1st Pharaoh feared to let them live, they had grown so numerous, NOW the 2nd Pharaoh fears to let them GO as they are so numerous that their slave labor holds up the Empire... v8 I wonder what the quota was? v8-21 Pharaoh was a VERY clever man! he used powerful psychology to seek to destroy the cohesion of the Israelites - to divide and conquer; this ancient plan has been used in POW camps in every war of modern times; and by all rights, the Israelites SHOULD have folded - only a terribly disciplined group like the Marines or Turks have proven resistant to such forces - the Israelites were NOT such! So ONLY God could have held such an easily swayed disorganized rabble together; v21 Poor Moses! This was the FIRST indication of what his next FOURTY YEARS would be like! v22-23 Whine Whine Whine!! Moses certainly seems to represent his people - and yet - in truth, he was just a NEW believer - although spending some early years being raised by his mother, he spent his youth and adulthood living as an EGYPTIAN; after killing the man and fleeing, there's no evidence he lived as a God-worshipping Israelite except there is no mention of foreign gods in his household...AND earlier in Ex 4:24-26 Moses had NEVER circumcised his son - his pagan wife had to do it! ALAS! How OFTEN God has to work through wives because their husbands FAIL in their leadership in the home... was his failure to circumcise an oversight or a conscious indication of his failure to finally commit to God - a statement of UNWILLINGNESS to commit? Chap 7 v3-5 Why go to all that trouble? BECAUSE the GREATER the miracles and deliverance, the FARTHER the stories will be carried - all CAANAN trembled at the approach of the Israelites BECAUSE of what they had HEARD of GOD'S works in Egypt - and THAT was over 40 YEARS ago! The Israelites could not appreciate this, BUT their initial hardships delivered them of MUCH GREATER hardships later on; and perhaps toughened them for the march through the desert, as well; Chap 12:1-13 Passover! v7 That blood on the door marked their way from slavery to freedom - it's didn't just keep death OUT, it created the entrance to a new life; they entered their house slaves, but once the Angel had passed , they were FREE the moment they passed through that door into the new life God had prepared for them; SO JESUS! BY His blood, WE pass THROUGH His blood, THROUGH the doorway that IS Himself, from death into Life; v13 the blood was a sign for THEM, GOD knew who were His; but by this way THEY knew it too; they FINALLY had to decide and PUBLICALLY DECLARE FOR Him or NOT; it wouldn't wash off, if they did this they would PERMANANTLY MARK themselves as HIS for ALL to see and respond to, either for good or bad; But yet He does say He will "see the blood" and in doing so withhold His wrath and judgment; Herein He tells us He will respond to OUR declaration for Him; v26 See what they ask? NOT "What does this mean" as if looking for some dictionary definition; NO! But rather, "What does this mean TO YOU?"! It requires that it mean something PERSONALLY to EACH of them, and it shows that our children are more interested it OUR PERSONAL INNER responses than in mere statements of fact, or impersonal observations; What it means to US will determine what it COMES to mean to THEM!! THIS requires that we share of our SELF, that I open my inner heart to my child, that I let her IN to ME; that I take the time to share ME with HER; AND that I take the time to FIND OUT WHAT IT MEANS TO ME; I am compelled to HAVE a PERSONAL response, a personal meaning regarding GOD'S actions in MY life; AND that I COMMUNICATE that TO her; ALSO note, it says NOT IF, but WHEN they ask...it is INEVITABLE; best we be prepared, eh?? V13 the blood was a sign for THEM; GOD knew who were His, but by this way THEY knew, THEY finally had to decide and PUBLICALLY DECLARE for HIM or NOT; it wouldn't was off, if they did this they would permanently MARK THEMSELVES as HIS for ALL to see and respond to, either for good or bad; But yet He does say He will "see the blood" and in doing so withhold His wrath and judgment;
