Psalms 18 v16, 19 Rescue and help NOT because David was wonderful, BUT "...because He delighted in me." v20-24 how easy now for David, how these words must have galled him after Bathsheba; then David learned new and powerful truths about his God; v28 "You"! v28-30 with awe and amazement David contemplates what it means for an Infinite God to give His personal love individually to each of us - it is a thing of wonder, of glory, of intoxicating amazement and delight! Chap 22 v3 How WONDERFUL is that "Yet"! In the midst of his hurt and uncertainty he REMINDS himself as he declares to God of how FAITHFUL God has been in the past! his HOPE is in WHO God is - based on God's Character as displayed in the past; v22 he calls out thanks to the Lord BEFORE he EVER SEES his deliverance v31 no WONDER Satan wants abortion to run rampant! perhaps he believes by this he can keep the present generation from proclaiming His righteousness to a people yet "unborn..." Chap 25 v7 how marvelous that He does indeed remember us "...according to His love" and NOT according to His justice and wrath; we deserve the latter, but He lavishes on us the former - How GREAT a God He is to love us so!! V10-11 see the juxtaposition of these verses; David says God loves the faithful, but then must CRY OUT his grief at his realization of his OWN wretched wickedness - he sees that he FAILS the criteria of v10 and so MUST cry out his plea for Undeserved forgiveness for his sins; v15 how can you get free of the snares you walked into, that have so firmly snapped your feet? KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE LORD - waiting on HIM to free me; What does this require of me? V1-7 dependent spirit, one that HOPES in HIM v8-11 humble, aware of and cognizant of my sin v12-14 aware of HIS Deity - "fearing" Him v15 earnestly seeking Him - yearningly waiting on Him to deliver v16-22 honest in how distressed I feel, honest in my feelings, honest about my TRUE circumstances; Ch 139, 38, 42, 32 4 ways to be honest with God 1. realize He ALREADY KNOWS everything - no surprises 2. He UNDERSTANDS everything already - knows WHY we failed, how it happened; Peter's faith endured Satans sifting, Judas's didn't 3. Tell Him my TRUE feelings about the issue Ps 38:9 ALL my feelings about it all; Ps 42 4. No matter WHAT happens, how often it happens, God UNDERSTANDS; He wants us to come back to Him AGAIN and AGAIN; He'll never be surprised when we come back again... 3 Hinderences to Honesty 1. Harboring secret sin in our heart; Ps 32 2. Hidden hurt 3. Faithless fears - afraid of the future, it can't last; can't believe God wants to bless ME anyway... "the opposite of faith is control"
