EARRA GHAIDEHEAL 2001 – Argyll 2001

03.06.2001 – MacMillan Cottage – Dunmore Court – Knapdale

To begin with the start we set off on 31Stadt May at 8:30 to meet the others and went straight to Ijmuiden, where we had dinner in the Visserhaven (the very same one where last time we got nothing). It was „lekker“ as the Dutch would say.

Aboard the Kind of Scandinavia we went with the Kids upon the bridge (as a feature of the Pirate’s Club), where we took a glance at the radar, the naval computer maps and the kids both sat on the captain’s chair, wearing his cap.

From Newcastle we went to Ardrossan with only one break at Darvel in the Turf Hotel where we were served by Regina, a german waitress from Wuppertal. Now imagine that!

When we came to the ferry at Ardrossan there were only three cars not to go on board two of which were ours. So we stayed a while in a somewhat shabby café and then took the last ferry to Arran.

We arrived in very poor weather at Brodick and went straight on past Withing Bay with the Holy Isle and between hawthorn, rhododendrons, broom (planta genista), and a fancy blue plant of unknown name to the Lagg Inn
