In 1988 I visited Scotland for a second time, this time with my
later wife. We took an InterRail-ticket but unfortunately without including
ship-fares, so when later returning from Ireland, we went the long way
through Scotland instead of Brittany and had to change bus train and underground
for 18 (!) times from Limerick to home and all this carrying 25 kg in backpacks
(my wife carrying 20kg).
In late July we set off to Britannia Maior. We first went to visit a friend in London who became 90 years of age that winter. Thence we went by train to Glasgow the seemingly ever feasting city, where we arrived far too early in the morning and sat around on George's Square, waiting for Queens Street Station to open. The whole place - like in 1984 looked very dirty, especially after there having been a festival of hard drinking the night before and the rubbish lying all around. From here we went to Fort William and Glen Nevis |
