In history we learned about the Boston Tea Party. This was an act of political protest against high taxes. American Colonists were unable to enjoy their favorite beverage because they simply couldn't afford to buy it. Colonists soon learned from the American Natives, how to blend plants from their new World into delicious teas. They used raspberry leaves, chamomile, thyme and red clover. These blends were soon to be called Liberty Tea. Colonists drank them as a defiant stand against taxation. The final act resulted in the December, 1773 Tea Party. Colonists desguised as Indians, threw 342 chests of British tea into the Boston Harbor, thereby telling the Crown, they hated taxation. It was one movement toward our American Independance.
