Y3K FIXED!

To-day the Gates society announced that the Y3K computer problem was fixed once and for all. The announcement said that the New York computer complex had programed in a fix for all of the computers in the North America area, and most of the rest of the world.
"The lack of a Y3K fix in the third world nations should not be a problem for us." said Bill Jobs the 98th chairman of the society. He also reported that the Y3K fix that will be used in the Asteroid Federation would fit in seamlessly with the one generated by the New York complex.
Her Ladyship Johaana M'Banga of the republic of West Africa said in a press release that a protest would be lunched at the U.N. on behalf of all the third world nations for not getting the Y3K fix from the New York complex for free. In Lady Johaana's press release she is said to have threatened to send one hundred boat loads of refuges in to the first world by sailing to Libya and letting all of the refuges off the boats, then with in a year the first world would be fighting all the sickness and depravation that her countries deal with every day.
Computer Geeks were surprised that computing machine programers for the last four hundred years were using only three digets for dates in their programs. Professor Dr. Sean Russell of the Nova Scotia school of history was asked how this could have come about. Dr. Russell reported that one thousand years ago there was a similar concern with two diget dates. But that when computers took over the creation of programing in 2682 it seems that no one thought to make sure that the machines were still using four diget dates. Dr. Russell said laughingly, "I sure hope that the people at the Gates society could get a handle on all of this and see to it that the computers start  programing in five diget dates now, before it is too late."  Dr. Russell was quick to report that at the turn of the last millennium, people thought that it would be the end of the world. One should remember that in the year 2000, there were only six billion people on the planet, and no Asteroid civilization. The only real problem caused was in parts of the world where countries had computers but they were not properly prepared. He said that there were some people who went so far as to stock pile food and guns.
The U.N. travel council has been warning citizens to be wary of what countries you go to over the new year. The council has reported backlashes whether they are from the Y3K issue, or over the first world's ban on organ imports, trouble can be expected.
