Book of Shadows
Welcome to my Book of Shadows.  Please use the site map  for direct pages.

We'll begin with a lesson in constructing your own Book of Shadows.

*making your own BOS * Casting a Cirlce * Pan's Calling of the Corners

Almost every book and web site on paganism, Wicca in general suggests that you have a BOS, grimoire, mirror book, etc... What follows is a basic outline of what one should be. Everyone's should be different and it is always growing. I find it easiest to keep in a regular 3 ring binder...but the choice is yours.

section #1
your ideals, hopes, dreams, goals. Also a good place to keep The Wiccan Rede, The Witches Rune, etc...

section #2
pieces of history, thoughts on them, things that we must learn from.

section #3
the everyday boring stuff that you need to consult! The meanings of colors, days of week, flowers, herbs, moon phases, etc...

section #4
chants and rituals that you are comfortable with.

section #5
chants, spells, rituals you are learning and experimenting with.

section #6
a dream journal, or tarot journal (if you draw cards everday)rune journal, various divination journal. Look back on this at the end of the year and compare it to your mundane journal (if you keep one).

section #7
things you have learned.

section #8
a section of blank pages to jot your thoughts and ideas down.

section #9
a place to keep all the spells, ideas, etc. that are given to you by others.

As I said, this is just a basic outline I've picked up here and there. Your book should be personal and be seen by only you and those whom you truly trust. It is part of you, part of your being...

 Basic Casting of a Circle
How to open a circle.
Remove any animal and small children from the area..also any furniture that you do not want to be inside your circle. Set up your altar before you cast the circle. Then use a wand, athame, or your hand in a circular motion or malk deosil around the circle to cast while saying: "By the earth that is her body and by the air that is her breath and by the fire that is her bright spirit and by the living waters of her womb the circle is cast. So mote it be."

How to close a circle.
Once you are finished with your spell or whatever you were doing. Walk around the circle the opposite way than you did to open it. And say this: "By the earth that is her body and by the air that is her breath and by the fire that is her bright spirit and by the waters of her womb the circle is open but not unbroken May the joy of the Goddess live in our hearts Merry Meet Merry Part and Merry ye meet Again!

 Pandorra's Calling of the Corners
Note: The God/dess's in this corner calling are largely Celtic but also include Germanic, Native American and Greek
