The Symbol of the Interlaced Triangles

This symbol has been in use for thousands of years. Today most people would call it the Star of David, the Shield of David or the Magen Dawid, and see it as an emblem of Judaism. However in ancient India, the two triangles represented male and female. the upward-pointing one was the god Shiva and the downward one was the goddess Kali. All life in the universe is believed to come from this magical perpetual coupling.

The male also symbolizes fire and the female, water.

When I read about this in a book on amulets, I just "saw" this image and had to make it.

The two triangles symbolize other things too and I might do some more what they mean/meant to other people.

This book has been very interesting, and has given me many ideas
