Idle Versification
And the Eye of the Library opens to Infinity
Yesterday rides the Spiral dance into tomorrow
And all our midnight moments make star glimpses
Which pass from silence to open memory
Unlocking the pregnant desire within.
And all our fears are written in empty books
On shelf stacks beyond the boundaries.
Riding on cloud-trolleys to the mind-market,
We salute passing islands of technology
Moored in the Information Ocean,
Just past the Muse-Sirens singing
The laughter of loneliness
Awakening the Alienated Librarian
To ethereal delight in endless sight:
To see the Book-Tree and its Rune-Bark grow,
To see the vellum feathered pages turn,
To see the Devil print on ink-black type,
To see the web-net of fractaled binaries spin,
And the Eye of the Library opens to Infinity.
The Sun's gleam lights life
Pulling me from dark storms fury.
The power of strength is its Terror,
Its mighty grasp of sinew,
The Long Threaded clutch of Talon.
Oh for strength which is fickle
A watery changing mutability,
Which changes from dark to light
Sun to moon.
We have it. We change.
No stone men walk here,
But walking water.
