I posted this to alt.music.prince, but I felt it was a good post and so I added it here to my "diary."
Ok, here goes....
Last night I checked my credit card balance and it had suddenly been raised by about $370 (which was the price quoted by the New Funk supervisor to me for 7 copies of the set). I got excited.
This morning I started a new job and it went well, although there's SO much to remember that I feel really overwhelmed. (Hey, the job stuff is news...:)
Anyway, I got home and decided I would call my credit card bank to make sure that it was Paisley Park that charged me and I didn't just buy furniture in my sleep or something like that. The operator said there wasn't any charge for $370. *sigh* I thought, "Great, New Funk either charged me too much or someone got ahold of my cc number and had some fun."
I decided I would walk into town and I was just about ready to go when the Fed Ex truck came and the dog went crazy and woke up my mother. I tried not to get my hopes up, since my father frequently gets packages via Fed Ex, but then my father came upstairs with a huge box and handed it to me. :)
I was very, very excited. I'll admit it now, but later I might deny it...;)
I cut one of the sets out of the bubble wrap and the *second* my father saw the case, he started muttering about how awful it was...:)
Anyway, I'm pretty happy with the music so far...I'm only up to the Love Sign remix (Kirky J should NOT be allowed to remix any more songs...geeez), but with the exception of the remix (it's the 4th track on the 1st disc) I like it so far...:)
I send a thousand and one kisses to the New Funk people who received my email and sent the cds. :) I ordered my own copy back in June and then added the six other copies for my friends back in the fall or winter. When one of my friends said that she received her copy shortly after emailing [email protected] (she did it after the address was bombarded with emails), I did the same, and it worked. :)
I still think we should have had a booklet with the pre-ordered copies. I still think Prince shouldn't have charged twice as much via New Funk, since the extra things from New Funk should have been free as gifts are supposed to be free. I also think he should have given us a regular cd case. Geeeez. Now I have to go and copy down the tracklist or something.
All the same, I'm happy I have new music to listen to, and I have a much nicer opinion of the New Funk operators now.
I guess this also means that neither people from amp nor signers of the Petition are blackballed, but since it seems like most of you have cancelled, I guess you don't care...:)
