Called 'Follies', these structures took on strange and often fantastic forms. One man put an exact scale model of Stonehenge, others put miniature Acropoli, others, pyramids and obelisks.
There is a lovely Folly in my garden. Built with the intention of reviving Mediaeval Britain, the Folly is a small scale of a castle.
But, small is relative. This Folly is too large to call a child's play house or yard fort. I have allowed my grown children to use it on occasion as their 'home away from home'.
There are several rooms to explore in this Folly, as well as a natural underground chamber which we laughingly call 'The Dungeon'.
It has been my hobby in recent months to decorate this little piece of the past. Not that I'm finished, it's been an on-going project. And, I may change something just as soon as I think I have it right, just to be puttering around out here.
