PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Director
of Interactive Products
The BlackBook, 5/00-3/01
10
Astor Place, New York, NY 10003
The BlackBook is the leading directory of creative talent in the world (including
creative directors, photographers, graphic artists, illustrators and Web
developers). Upon its merger with Warp10 Technologies of Toronto, Canada,
I came on board to apply Warp10's digital asset management software to BlackBook's
online portfolios. With this opportunity to combine my interests in marketing,
product development and production, I have been able to leverage my business
contacts, networking abilities and production skills to help transition and
translate this prestigious 30-year offline brand to the Internet. With a
team of programmers in Toronto and sales/marketing people in New York, I
have helped the BlackBook realize a new product (online portfolios) and new
revenue generator (particularly advertising and sponsorship opportunities
at the "member services" section of the site). This year aggressive online
projects have helped to bring the company an unprecedented 12% growth in
revenue for the year to date, a remarkable accomplishment for a long-established
company. Unfortunately, the parent company in Toronto (a dot-com) has an
uncertain future and has had to lay off many workers. Since I had many opportunities
to work on freelance jobs, I decided to take those opportunities and leave
the BlackBook before the situation became more tumultuous.
