Farquharson

My surname, Glenn, is a family (sept) of MacKintosh (or MacIntosh).  For a history of the clan, click here.  The MacKintosh crest badge is a cat salient, proper, guardiant, surrounded by a strap circlet and buckle.  The gaelic, Mac An Toich, means "Son of Thane."  The motto is "Touch not the cat but a glove."  The war cry, or rallying cry is "Loch Moigh" (Lake of the Plain).  The plant badge is a Red Whortleberry, and the piobaireachd is Cu'a' Mich an Tosaich, or "The MacKintosh's Lament."

Clan Chattan

My wife's maiden surname, Finley, is a family (sept) of Clan Farquharson.  For a clan history, click here.   The Farquharson crest badge is the upper half of a lion rampant with a sword in his paw, surrounded by strap circlet and buckle.  The clan motto is Fide et Fortitudine, or "By Fidelity and Fortitude."  The Farquharson's and the MacKintosh's were closely tied under the very powerful Clan Chattan, a Highland confederation of clans. The chief of MacKintosh is also chief of Clan Chattan.
