An Illustrated History of Scotland -- Elizabeth Fraser. Includes background on the Celts and clans.  A reader-friendly account of the history of Scotland.

William Wallace: Brave Heart -- James Mackay. Exaustive history/case study.  An eye-opening, realistic companion to offset the film. 

Cracker Culture: Celtic Ways in the Old South -- Grady McWhiney.  An argument that Celtic culture largely shaped southern thought during the American Civil War. 

The Kings of Celtic Scotland -- Benjamin Hudson.  A Penn State University professor, and a recognized authority on early Celtic Britain analyzes the post-Roman era (very useful as secondary source). 

Celtic Women's Spirituality -- Edain McCoy.  Unconventional historical piece that analyzes Celtic female spirituality (good source for research ideas).

How the Irish Saved Civilization : The Untold Story of Ireland's Heroic Role from the Fall of Rome to the Rise of Medieval Europe -- Thomas Cahill.  An excellent source of information for any scholar.  Beautifully written yet well-researched --HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The Origin of Great Scottish Families: The Anglo-Normans in Scotland, 1057-1200 -- James Coutts. Good resource is researching geneology.

The Island Clans During Six Centuries -- R. C. MacLeod. As the title suggests, this is a look at the Celtic/Nordic culture along the Scottish coast.
