Responding to a call of superhuman attack
on Star City, a weakened JLA (sans Flash and Wonder Woman) must contend
with evil versions of their seven core members. With the help of the newly
initiated Green Arrow, the JLA manage to stop the doppelgangers rampage.
The evil JLA, or the JLA Revenge Squad as they are referred to, turn out
to be hard light holograms, being manipulated by the newly formed
Injustice Gang to monitor, and assess the strength and weaknesses of the
JLA. The leader of this Injustice Gang is Lex Luthor who sees Superman's
leadership of the JLA as an insult and a challenge. Luthor has accepted
this "challenge" by forming this gang and leads it from an
invisible satellite orbiting the planet. Luthor reveals some of his plans
involving the Philosophers Stone and a corporate takeover of the JLA.

February 1998
Writer: Grant Morrison
Artists: Gary Frank, Howard Porter and John Dell
The thrilling extra-sized conclusion to the
6-part "Rock of Ages!" The future enslavement of the earth is
averted. The future conquest of Darkseid is stopped. And the future
destruction of civilization is prevented completely. Which means that the
JLA has played right into the hands of the greatest criminal genius in
history, Lex Luthor. Have the Leaguers succeeded, only to fail humanity
when it needs them most? Has the League merely been a pawn in a game so
intricate only Luthor knows the rules? Luthor wields the chaotic,
crystalline heart of darkness: the Philosopher's Stone. And with it, the
world belongs to him. |
