Seven cats sleeping on top of the wall
One sits up to stop his fall
He looks to see that everything's well
He must be the sentinal.
A racoon peeks from under the wall
He slowly emerges, and the cat sees all
Another racoon is following tall
And the cat's still the sentinal.
The baby racoons are following now
They are shy, as they come with thier nose to the ground
They sniff at the air, and listen for sounds
As they watch for the sentinal.
Seven cats sit up, to watch all the coons
Then the 'cat lady' comes to deliver the food
The coons slip back down under the wall
And the day moves on.
