BUILDING YOUR COLLECTION: Defense Style

Defensive Beyblades have heavy, stable bases, usually with narrow tips-- these features help them keep their balance when struck. Their Attack Rings are capable of absorbing forceful blows, and some can also reflect the damage back at their opponent.

First priority- start out with:

Voltaic Ape- contains Magnetic North Neo Right and Magnetic Weight Disk
Driger S- contains 8-heavy weight disk
Draciel

Voltaic Ape is just about the ultimate defensive Beyblade when left uncustomized. You can also try this for a powerful combo that combines Defense with decent Endurance:

ATTACK RING: Driger S
WEIGHT DISK: 8-heavy (later, substitute this with 10-heavy)
BLADE BASE: Draciel

Second priority- aim to get these next:

Bistool
Draciel F
Galman- contains 8-heavy weight disk
Wolborg 2- contains 1 NSK bearing

Here's a defensive combo with an added Attack boost:

ATTACK RING: Bistool
WEIGHT DISK: 8-heavy (later, substitute this with 10-heavy-- see below)
BLADE BASE: Draciel

Also try Bistool's and Galman's attack rings on all the other blade bases and see what works best for you. 

For a really nifty defensive combo, take the shaft out of Draciel F's blade base (but don't remove the ball bearings) and replace it with Wolborg 2's rubber-tipped shaft. Then try this configuration:

ATTACK RING: Driger S or Bistool-- see which one suits you better. Also try Draciel V2 if you choose to get it (see below).
WEIGHT DISK: 8-heavy (later, substitute this with 10-heavy-- see below)
SHAFT: Wolborg 2
BLADE BASE: Draciel F

You'll love the result. Just watch out for high-Endurance blades like uncustomized Driger S, Dranzer S, Dranzer V2 and combos with Bearing Stinger's, Wolborg's, Burning Kerberous' or Auto-Change Balancer's base.

After you get the important stuff, you may also want to try these:

Draciel V2- contains 10-heavy weight disk
Draciel S
Dranzer S
Kid or Master Draciel (these are the same Beyblade, they're just colored differently)- contains 8-wide weight disk

Try this for a heavy shock absorber:

ATTACK RING: Draciel V2
WEIGHT DISK: 10-heavy
BLADE BASE: Draciel

The following combo works well in magnetic stadiums, but isn't recommended for non-magnetic stadiums because it may get knocked around too easily:

ATTACK RING: Driger S
WEIGHT DISK: 8-wide, 10-heavy or Magnetic Weight Disk with North side down-- see which works best for you
SPIN GEAR: Magnetic North Neo Right
BLADE BASE: Draciel S

Kid/Master Draciel's attack ring is extremely wide and good for repelling opponents. Try it with Wolborg 2's or Draciel's parts. 

Dranzer S' blade base has sweet Endurance and Defense when it's set in Endurance mode. Improve its performance by replacing the metal bearing in its shaft with Wolborg 2's NSK bearing.  For a further Endurance or Defensive boost, try these configurations:

ATTACK RING: Driger S (for more Endurance) or Galman (for more Defense)-- see which one suits you better.
WEIGHT DISK: 10-balance or 10-heavy-- see which one suits you better
BLADE BASE: Dranzer S

Experiment on your own to find other combos that suit you. If you've got the time and money, and you think you need more blades, now's the time to get them since you already have the most vital ones. Have fun, and good luck blading!
