Interview: Lady Joanne Sakazaki
Q: Where are you from? Could you please briefly describe what your area is
like?
A: Clairemont, Cape Town, South Africa. It’s quite a nice place to live. I’m
not sure how to describe my area… Its kind of a quiet place…hardly any noisy
cars waking people up at night. Despite me not being sure how to describe my area I am proudly South African!
Q: What's your occupation/job?
A: School, but I sometimes wash people's cars for money. (I’m only 13 years old!)
Q: What are your other interests aside from Beyblading?
A: Hanging out with Mes Amies (My friends), Going to movies, Surfing la web, playing games
(PS and PC), Watching la TV, Sports, Art & Listening to Music.
Q: How popular is Beyblading in your area?
A: Not very popular at all! Only a few people were in the tournament. People are Dragonball
Z crazy over here.
Q: How long have you been Beyblading?
A: 3 years (I started when I was 10)
Q: How did you first get into Beyblading?
A: It was my friends who got me started Beyblading. I was watching my friends Beyblading and it looked exciting so I decided to try it out
and then I guess it just became something I loved to do.
Q: If you've been in any Beyblade tournaments, could you please describe your tournament history, along with
any awards you've won?
A: I’ve been in 2 tournaments put together by a couple of Beyblade fans. They were team tournaments and I
led a team with 3 of my friends called, “Beyknights”. My team was given parts for their Beyblades and the
title, “Tournament champs” 2 times in a row.
Q: How do you develop your combos/customizations-- do you experiment on your own, research Beyblade sites on the
Internet, get ideas from friends, etc?
A: All 3. I experiment on my own, research Beyblade sites on the web and get ideas from my friends and teammates.
Q: What are your favorite Beyblade parts to use for customizations, and why?
A: Griffolyon’s bey-base, Draciel’s weight disk and Wolborg 2’s attack ring.
Draciel’s weight disc has a lot of defense; which is a very good element when it comes to Beyblading. Wolborg 2’s attack ring is very powerful
and power is also very useful…
Q: What's your favorite customization? What are its features? Where did you get the idea for it? (If you
have more than one favorite customization, please feel free to talk about the others if you want.)
A: I like to use Griffolyon’s bey-base, Draciel’s weight disc and Wolborg 2’s attack ring to make an almost invincible
Beyblade. Draciel’s weight
disk and Wolborg 2’s attack ring make a very good combo.
Q: What is/are your favorite uncustomized Beyblade(s), and why?
A: Wolborg & Wolborg 2. Lots of power, good defense, spins for a long time.
Q: Where do you buy your Beyblades?
A: At any shop that has them.
Q: How do you sharpen your Beyblading skills, and how often do you do it?
A: I sharpen them on my own by practicing my moves and by having Beybattles with my friends. I usually only do this on weekends.
Q: How often do you participate in Beyblade battles?
A: I normally Beyblade with friends or when there’s a tournament. Hardly anyone Beyblades so I don’t get to do it often.
Q: Do you have any favorite Beyblade websites? If so, what are they?
A: Do I ever! They're not really “How-to-Beyblade” websites, they're just
“fan sites” as I like to call them. They are:
http://destinationbeyblade.tech.nu/
http://www.themajestics.cjb.net/
and this web site:
http://www.fortunecity.com/bennyhills/coltrane/774
(Does that ring a bell?)
Q: Lastly, do you have any advice for people who want to be Beyblade champs?
A: Believe in yourself! Be confident, but not cocky. And remember: practice makes perfect!
