Life on the Farm



Date: Summer 1986
Description: A Heatwave in southern United States, at a small struggling farm.
Characters:
Jennie; farm daughter
Dennie; farm son
Jack; farm dad
Mary; farm mom
Drobus; American farm hand

Three aliens are playing backgammon in a corn field nearby, this is what they heard from the family

Dennie: Mom! Mom!
Mom: Ai! Dennie where's your father?
Dennie: The Farm machine, it's eat him mom!
Mom: My Goat! Drobus! Drobus! Come quickly, jack's in trouble.
Drobuswith a smirk & under his breath: How's my hair.
Mom: Drobus, bring some wood some metal and some sand and some leather.
Drobus: Yes M'Lady.

The motley crew rush to Jack's aid. He is trapped under a piece of dated American machinery. Jennie is already there

Mom: Oh Jack! I told you and told you. Never use those old machines.
Jack: etc. NB/ eg, *
Jennie: He can only talk in abbreviations.
Mom: Oh! Jack.
Jack: NB/ OTT
Drobus: Pass me the metal Den. Don't worry Mr Jack we'll get you out of this mess by God! And the leather. Thanx!

Jack is rescued by Drobus' divine pragmatic brain. The three aliens leave bemused. Jack can now only speak in abbreviations, and due to the large lottery and EU grants that Mr Jack managed to spawn from Bromsgrove council he now owns a thriving farm with cattle and everything. The sexual tension between Drobus and Mom is still there. Dennie still looks after pigeons and Jennie is to move to Holywood to fulfill her dreams of a solo singing career
