Today I vent about how children's bedrooms have become more than just bedrooms. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.
When I was a child even till i was 14-16 all i had in my room was a small stereo system (no cd player), my dresser, my bed, and a my desk for homework. I had a few G.I. Joes in there and that was it.
Today a lot of kids have, t.v.'s (with cable), some sort of gaming system (or more than one), large stereo systems, vcr's/dvd players, and sometimes they have more. When did a bedroom become a playroom? This is why you can't send your kids to their rooms anymore! It's not because it might make the children scared of the room or something stupid like that. But because its like saying, "That was wrong. Enjoy your punishment." LITERALLY!!!
In my opinion children should have a playroom/recroom and if you can't afford to have this guess the kids will just have to ask Daddy or Mommy if they can play X-Box on the T.V. during one of Daddy/Mommy's shows! Oh heaven forbid them ask politely for something nowadays. But this also makes you parents have responsibility to give in once in awhile letting your children know that their enjoyment is more important to you than, if your football teams in the finals, or if Buck will sleep with June.
So when your kids are bad and you are one of those couples that don't spank, send them to their room to think about what they did, but don't have the room full of entertainment cause its hard to think about what you did when Mario is jumping on mushrooms and such!!
