The VMA were odd enough in that boy groups didn't dominate the scene (Thank God).  But as the night carried on, things got considerably more odd.

First off, nearly every performance ended up being an all-out sampler platter of music.  I don't know why it happened, but apparently, all of the artists got together and decided on it.

"So this is what we're going to do this year, guys.  We're going to mix all of our popular songs together."

Argh.  Maybe from now on their CDs should just be one long song.  That way, everyone is sure to like it, right?

And what's with Kidrock's midget sidekick?

Another oddity was the man that kept screaming every time Madonna came up, shouting in Spanish that he loved her and stirring up the crowd.  She seemed rather frustrated with this toward the end, but I can't say I blame her.  It would have frightened me.  But then, I'm certainly not Madonna.  To tell the truth, it takes someone with real balls to do a thing like that.  I found it funny.

Tom Green was fountain diving, but coming from Tom Green, that's not very odd.
