Jon was born to Mr. and Mrs. Arbuckle and raised on a farm. Jon had one brother named Doc
Boy and a cousin named Judy. He went to college for a few years. He bought Garfield in 1978. It was between Garfield or a lizard. Originally Jon was a cartoonist, but eventually Jim Davis dropped that from the strip. These days Jon seems to have his hands full playing straight man to Garfield. And poor Jon doesn't fare any better when it comes to romance, either. With his wardrobe straight out of Geeks "R" Us and his pathetic pickup lines straight out of the '70s, the hopelessly unhip Jon is always courting disaster. The name Jon Arbuckle came from an old coffee commercial. When Jim Davis was creating the strip, the name Jon Arbuckle just seemed to fit the kind of poor sap who would get stuck with a cranky cat with an overactive appetite. | |
