As you can guess by the title, here I, Monorus, Review the anime shows and movies I can get my greedy little hands on.
Now then, this is how it works, First I tell you the name of the movie, then time, gender, which version I saw, specail things like a rating ( or if there is none on the box, I tell you what to look out for) followed by what the movie box Said, and what I think about what I saw. ( by the way, this section is Getting a complete make over.) .sooo... lets get started.

Project A-ko
Street Fighter 2
Dragon Half
All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku
Armitage III; Poly Matrix
Platsic Little
Akira
Bastard!!
Big Wars

Project A-Ko

86 minutes/dubbed
Gender: Comedy ( I think O_o)
2 Mild nudity scenes, and ridiculous Violence
Back 'o The Box;

Earth- The not-too-distant future. A city is miraculously reborn just sixteen years after being cornpletely destroyed by a giant meteor. Our story begins in the prestigious Graviton High School for Girls, nestled in the suburbs of the booming metropolis, as the English teacher, Miss Ayumi, introduces two new students-A-ko and her ditzy sidekick, C-ko. A-ko is a lively seventeen-year-old, no different from any other Except for the fact that within her diminutive frarne lies a strength that can only be described as superhuman. The trouble begins when B-ko, the spoiled but brilliant daughter of a business tycoon, decides she wants C-ko for herself. And once 8-ko decides she wants something, heaven help anyone who stands in her way. Unless that anyone is A-ko.

B-ko becomes the irresistible force and A-ko the immovable object as the action explodes across the unsuspecting city. B- ko goes up against the invincible A-ko with her arsenal of powered robot-suits, including the most powerful of all, "Akagiyama 23".

Meanwhile, a monstrous alien spaceship plies its way towards Earth in search of? What is the connection between the girls and the alien ship? Who is the mysterious "D"? What is the secret between A-ko's power? What dark past fuels B-ko's rage? Why is C-ko such a space-case?

Project A-ko is Japanese animation as you've never seen it before!

My Thoughts:

hmmm... what can I say, this Movie WOULD Be Really Funny, If It weren't for the terrible Dub. the voice actors, except for D and the captain are all horrible and sound alike, ( in fact, I swore they were one and the same voice actress when I first saw it...) the voices are semy emotionless most of the time, you can tell they were reading straight from the script. the recording quality of the dub is also low. the voices are fuzzy, and become nothing more than a quiet murmor in the background whenever there is an action scene. The animation quality is very good, and the jokes would be funny, if the voices wouldn't make you cringe... a real pitty. U.S. Manga corps could have done much better than that... (I mean, come on, it worked out with record of lodoss war....)  If you get Project A-Ko, get a Subtiteled version. otherwise you won't have that good of a time watching.

Street Fighter 2: The animated Movie

aprox. 96 min. /Dubbed
Gender: Action
slight nudity,violence( duh)
unrated
Back 'O The box:

All The Lightning fisted, Bone crunching thrills of the worlds wildest combat videogame explode onto the screen in the briliantly animated, sensually Supercharged Adult adventure, STREET FIGHTER II, THE ANIMATED MOVIE!!

In the near future, the world is besieged by arch-villain Bison, and his murderous crime syndicate, Shadowlaw. But even Bisons psychic powers and brainwashed minions can't bring him the prize he wants most: Ryu, the greatest street fighter on the planet. Meanwhile, deep in the mountains of China, Ryu continues his Martial arts training, unaware of Bisons reign of fear. But when Ryu's best friend is captured by Bison, the young warrior is forced to take action. Now, allied with U.S. army Colonel Guile and sexy interpol agent Chun Li, Ryu prepares for the fight of his life, as the ultimate showdown between good and evil begins.

My thoughts:

This Movie Kicks the real live movie's butt all over the place. there's a story line, although not really a strong one, all the special moves from the games, music by bands such as Alice In Chains , and as the title suggests, tons of fighting.
Now then, wether or not the sountrack of the dub is better than that of the origonal, (alice in chains or kmfdm weren't on the origonal score) I really can't say... I thought they fitted rater nicely, although I'm not really into Hard Rock or metal... the story is pretty much as the box said, with the exception that Ryu Is not in china the whole time, and does not meet with Guile Untill the end of the movie. there are awesome fight scenes and the animation is just a little under " Ghost In the Shell". there are a few problems though... the insults... I mean, come on... " You're Full of Crap!" or " You worthless Pile of Excrement!" ? the actors also sound a little stiff but it can be forgiven... ( E. Honda and Balrog Make up for it)
with only a few downsides in the voice acting ( and depending on your musical taste, in the sountrack) and with a ton of up sides ( especialy after seeing the live movie...) It's a pretty safe bet for fans of streetfighter, or the Martial arts gendre. just don't show it to your 9 year old brother, okay?

Dragon Half

Gender: Comedy
aprox. 1 hour / subtitle
weird animated violence
hilarious antics
one slight half nudity scene. hardly worth mentioning. ( the main character loses her top for a second)
Back 'O The Box;

Knights and Dragons are mortal enemies, right? And everyone knows what happens when a Knight meets a Dragon, right? Wrong! When a Knight and a Dragon meet and fall in love, the result is Mink, a precocious young female who's half human, half dragon and all trouble! Exactly how much trouble? Well, in consideration of the fact that having vestgial wings and a tail isn't a problem most teenage girls have to bear, one can perhaps cut our heroine a little slack, but when Mink insists on compounding her difficulties to infinite proportions by falling in love with handsome pop star and professional dragon slayer Dick Saucer, she really has put her heart before her head! Talk about problem dates! Will this turn out to be a love story where the hero really does get the girl...on the end of his sword? It's goofy, it's romantic, it's violent, and it's undeniably one of the strangest comedies ever animated. If your taste in love runs to the extremley weird, or if you just have a thing about girls who breathe fire, check out Dragon Half!

Absurd, screwball comedy runs rampant when cute little Mink decides to introduce herself to her ideal Prince Charming. The only problem is that Mink is half-dragon while her dreamboat beau is a champion dragonslayer. Can love prevail when the beauty is also the beast?

My Thoughts:

This is another of my personal favorites, though I can't really say why...
this movie is really really weird, but in a good way. there are all sorts of jokes put in, such as Rosario the advisor/mage, who's always surrounded by smoke ( 'cause he carries a bucket of dry ice) , and things in that direction. There Really is no story to this, so don't look. but then again, a story wouldn't really fit into dragon half without taking away a load of fun. this one, or others of it's gender are perfect for following up something like Akira or Neon Genesis Evangelion. you don't need to think, and can just laugh over Mink and Co.

the animation is nice at times , but usualy super deformed. the soundtrack fits, and the voices are well done as well. I can only recomend it for any comedy buff.

All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku

Gender: Comedy
aprox:1 hr/ Subtitle
ridiculous violence, funny storyline
Back 'o The box:

( tape 1)

When inventor Kyusaku Natsume transfers the brain of his son Ryunosuke's cat into a top secret android body, the family doesn't lose a pet...they gain a daughter! While she may look like a typical teenage girl to the rest of the world, Nuku Nuku's feminine exterior hides the superhuman strength and abilites of the NK-1124 android chassis, making her the most potent fighting force ever unleashed upon an unsuspecting Japan... and the ideal bodyguard for Ryunosuke! But can even Nuku Nuku keep her young charge out of the insidious clutches of the ruthless Akiko Mishima, president of Mishima Heavy Industries, financier of the NK-1124 project, Kyusaku's ex-wife and Ryunosuke's mother? The greatest custody battle of all time erupts in a conflagration across Japan as Akiko Unleashes the full force of M.H.I.'s military products devision, manned by herelite team of Office lady warriors, in her bid to get back Ryunosuke... but against Nuku Nuku even state of the art Hoverjets, cyborg battle suits, and the dreaded Mishima Armored Octopus are just so many cats toys!

Wat can I say, This show is Funny. the Voice acting is good, ( as far as I can tell...) and I found myself laughing insanely at scenes like the one where the " Office ladies" ( the way they get their name is hilarious too) suggest cutting Ryunosuke just a little while he is on the beach, so that Akkiko can win him back from his father... here's a little pic of her reaction...akikogrr.jpg (53136 Byte)
If you like funny, slapstick comedy anime, go for Nuku Nuku!

Armitage III: Poly Matrix

Gender:  Cyberpunk action.
aprox: 90 minutes/ Dubbed
interesting,  good story line, and some humor.
not rated, contains violence, and sugestive themes.( I always wanted to say that..) Made after the four part series. has new footage and a different ending
Back 'O The Box:

2179: Mars has been colonized by Earth, populated by humans and "Second Types" robots - robots designed to perform the menial tasks humans won't do. Then there are the "Third Types" - illegal humanoid robots designed by a nationalist force to look and behave exactly like humans - living undetected among the Martian population as citizens, until one man, Rene' Danclaude, declares war on the "Thirds," starting a massacre in a vow to destroy them all.

That's where she comes in.

She's Naomi Armitage. A cyber-punk Martian cop in hot pants, with an attitude as deadly as her gun. She's also a "Third," and her fight against D'anclaude is a fight for her survival. Her partner, Ross Sylibus, lost his partner at the hands of a cybernetic killer and hates robots.

Ross must face this prejudice when he is injured and received cybernetic limb replacements, bringing him closer to becoming one of the monsters he abhors. He begins to realize that being human is more then just flesh and blood and joins Armitage in her fight against D'anclaude and her quest to discover the mystery of why the "Third Type" was created. Armitage and Ross are brought together in a bond of love and hope as their journey uncovers a secret that could destroy two worlds!
This is a stroy about technology and emotion. About hatred and love. About a human on the verge of becoming a machine and a machine on the verge of becoming a human.

It is a story of survival.

My Thoughts:

Well well well... here we have another example that not all Dubs are bad... the voices don't all fit the characters in my opinion, but at least they ( hardly ever) sound flat or emotionless. the story is pretty much the same as the OAV's, only changed in some places, and with a different ending ( Oav's were around 120 minutes long)  the animation is good all the time, and mixed with the soundtrack really helps the athmosphere of the movie. The story stays strong up untill the end, where it loses out a little bit.
It is a good movie, however, if you already have the OAVs, don't bother getting it, It's pretty much the same.

Plastic Little

Gender: action/ Comedy (?)
aprox: 55 minutes/ Dubbed
erm.. well, it's funny, when you don't expect something serious... or a storyline.
not rated, contains violence, and nudity.
Back 'O the box:

Plastic Little has it all, from epic undersea battles and entire cities collapsing, to a ruthless villian to end all villians and the roughest, toughest, tomboy heroine to ever strut her stuff in a spandex wet- suit! Plastic Little is set on the breathtakingly beautiful planet Yietta, which supports a thriving metropolis of colonists who make their living by exploting tourists and by exporting the planet's unique resources to the omnipresent Galactic Federation. As our story begins, the citizens of Yietta are finally about to pay off their debts to the Federation and become an independent colony. Unfortunately, there are those who would rather not let control of the planet slip through their fingers, especially when there are military projects which exploit Yietta's resources... Enter Tita, 17 year old captain of the Cha-Cha Maru. Together with her ragtag crew, Tita specializes in capturing and selling Yietta's exotic life forms for the intergalactic pet store market. Through a series of accidental meetings and plain bad luck, Tita finds herself at the very core of a sinister plot to deprive the people of Yietta of all their hard won gains. By rescuing Elysse, a 16 year old girl whose father was involved in the development of a terrible new weapon, from a group of military plotters, Tita puts the lives of herself and her crew in mortal peril...but, well, a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do, and Tita's the kind who likes to se things through. Tensions mount as the military mobilizes their forces in a desperate bid to retrieve Elysse, who they believe to possess a vital computer code, and Tita must play a dangerous game of tag with ruthless teams of mercenaries, assassins and hired killers. It's Cat and Mouse on a planet-wide scale, with one crucial difference: Mice don't shoot back, but Tita does!

My Thoughts:

the animation is pretty good, although the voice acting has a few problems... ( almost
everyone has a cheesy Russian or British accent. .) The voices are all fitting, ( with the exception of the ships nurse) and with the exception of the begginining of the movie, all the voice actors speak their part with enthusiasm. if only those accents wouldnt get in the way...and the story... well, I
can't really say anything about that. In my oppinion there is none... at least not a very deep one. I think they crammed a little too much material into the 55 minutes playing time to develop anything really... but it was COOL to see an entire country fall apart, ( literally). The animation is wonderfull too. one thing though... half of the stuff on the back of the box doesn't happen... or at least you wouldn't know about them if the box didn't tell you...
If your looking for something serious, by all means avoid this one. If your
looking for a highly developed story with deep characters ( like Evangelion) , then steer clear of this one! but if you need a change, or something to laugh at,  ( like a bunch of peeping toms being electrocuted) but don't want to go as far as Dragon half, Then this Is a pretty good bet.

Akira

Gender: action/apocaliptic future
aprox: 120 minutes/ Dubbed

not rated. I'd go for PG 13 though... maybe higher ( don't kill me guys, okay?)  this is a psycho movie... I like it. there is exreme violence, and really... well...
psichotic scenes in this. don't show it to your kid brother or sister. they won't sleep
for months. and don't watch it if you get sick easyly.

Back 'O the box:

Tokyo, as we know it, was destroyed by a kind of a new super-bomb of unknown origin. 9 hours after, World War III broke out and most of the major cities in the world were completely destroyed. 31 years after, Neo-Tokyo now stands, were the old Tokyo has been.

One night, Kaneda and his motorcycle gang have an accident with a little boy with a wrinkled face, as one of an old man. Tetsuo, one of the gang's members crashes into the boy, who mysteriously remains unhurt and then simply vanishes from the eye.

Tetsuo is brought to Hospital, and everything seems to have normalized. But that is not at all the case:
The strange boy from the last night was a part of a secret military project dealing with supernatural powers. The project is lead by the "Colonel", who wants to develop human weapons with aid of these powers. On his trail are Ryu and Kei , members of a semi-terroristic group, who want to discover and destroy his plans.
And now Tetsuo is going to be a new member of the project. But his powers rise much faster than the Colonel has expected. Tetsuo manages to find out the location of an underground freeze chamber, where the mysterium AKIRA is kept.
Akira too was a member of the project. But why did they put him in the freeze chamber at 0,0005 Kelvin ? They were afraid of something. Something they couldn't control anymore. Something Tetsuo is going to set free really soon . . .

And in midst of all the trouble: Kaneda and Kei.

My Thoughts:

This is a probably one of the more disturbing movies I ever saw... there is plenty of bloodshed, conspiring, and halucination. it's just wonderful watching Tetsuo lose his mind to his power ( and gut wretching to see things through his eyes, like when his inards seam to fall out... *hurk* to name a more subtile one. ( things get REALLY Freaky when the other members of the akira project get involved... )
The animation is a little dated at times, when looking at shows like armitage, or ghost in the shell, but it can still mix it up with the newest of  'em! The music is creepy and really helps the general feal of the movie. Howerver, The dubbing Is where Akira looses out a little.. some of the character voices are flat, or overacting at times... for all of you about my age,  the actor who did Leonardo, ( teenage mutant ninja turtles, the animated series) Does the voice of kaneda, ( just a little useless fact there...)
This is out of print for now, so get it while you can!  ( hey, it is after all " a masterpiece of japanese animation" as said by the front of the box.)  ^_~

Bastard!!

Gender: Fantasy action/ Comedy
aprox:  3 tapes, 60 miutes each/ subtiteled
swings between comedy and serious, plenty of fighting....
rated 17 and up.
Back 'O the box:

While the army of the Big Four decimates the army of Meta-Rikana, the city's Great Priest, Geo, desperately attempts to summon the original commander of the Big Four's army - the malevolent warlock, Dark Schneider. Unfortunately, the summoning ceremony may risk the life of Geo's daughter, Yoko, and an innocent boy, Luche - and there's no guarantee that Dark Schneider will even help...especially since Dark Schneider probably wasn't too happy about being imprisoned inside Luche in the first place!
A lone warlock freed from years of imprisonment, stands against an army of destruction bent on world conquest and the resurrection of an ancient evil, Ansla-Sax. But Dark Schneider is not protecting the desperate people of Meta-Rikana out of the goodness of his heart. After all, they were the ones who imprisoned him for leading this same army against their city for the first time. However, he's not about to let his old army show him up. Besides, his new girlfriend is counting on him and it's been awhile since he had some fun.

My Thoughts:

GO DARK SCHNEIDER!!! I have to say, DS is definatly my favorite antihero out there... foul mouthed, short tempered, egocentric, handsome and invincible. you can't help but like the guy. ^_^  The voice acting is incredible In here. especialy the voices of Dark schneider, Dai Amon and Abigail are awesome!  with the exception of " Ninja Master Gara", where the animation  goes down the crapper at times  (a real shame.)but aside from that little slip up, the animation is excelent. the soundtrack blew me away, Fitting Perfectly Into the scenes. there is plenty of humor  to lighten the mood up a little ( usualy in the form of DS' dirty mouth.) The story is nothing world shaking, but is helped along with a development in DS ( in the beggining he is completely cold, with the exception of his emotions towards yoko, but later on he desplays some acts of kindness and love... not to worry. he doesnt turn into a " Peace to all mankind" type of guy.) the only problems are, the OAV's look like there was supposed to be more, but they left it out... also, you kind of stop worrying about DS' after the third episode, and don't realize the possibilities of why he survived untill the end of the last episode...

Big Wars

Gender:  Sci Fi action
aprox:  75 minutes/ subtiteled
has some things that make you think, and a few creepy scenes.
not rated ( I think..) Contains Violence, sex, and some disturbing scenes like akira.
Back 'O the box:

It is the dawn of the 21st century. Mankind has terraformed and colonized Mars. But we are not alone in the universe. An ancient race of alien beings, known only as "The Gods", has been watching mankind's progress...and waiting. Now, these mysterious aliens have returned to halt mankind's expansion into space...by force.
Now, the planet named after the God of War will become our final battlefield, as mankind fights a desperate battle with the latest in high-tech, military hardware: hyper-advanced aircraft, orbital fighters, and gigantic, desert battleships brimming with the most advanced weaponry.
But will it be enough? The aliens have awesome, incredibly destructive weapons at their disposal - including "Hell" - an unstoppable stealth carrier. But the alien's primary weapon is insidiously quiet and invisible - a mind control plaque. Incurable. Inevitable. Contagious. Humans are powerless to resist its effects, which transforms even the most loyal soldiers into dangerous subversives.
Our last hope lies with Captain Akuh and the crew of the Battleship Aoba. If his top-secret mission is successful, mankind will deal a decisive blow to the alien armada. But Akuh's girlfriend is showing signs of nymphomania - the first symptom of alien subversion!

My Thoughts:
Even though that Nymphomania part may make it sound like a Hentai flick, trust me, the sex scenes are no more displaying as the one in " pretty woman" .. well, maybe a little more... but they don't make up the movies content. ( in fact, she dies aproximatly 15 minutes into the movie.) the animation is average, and although they are unnerving, akus nightmnares aren't as "Bad" as those in Akira. The story is Well developed, and shows a the lives of the crew rather well... the main theme gets caught in your head after hearing it once... the voices are, as best to my knowledge, good as well. nit's not a bad movie, I personaly don't think It's anything special in the gender ( but then, I havent seen that many in this gender yet..) If you are a fan of  Sci-Fi, then it's a pretty good bet that you will like this.
