Granddaughter Sarah's Poem Granddads Garden, Fresh tomatoes are always welcome During the long hot summer So is the yellow squash And the big juicy cucumber The lettuce is so big and fine So crispy and so sweet and I also love the onions The carrots and the beets Another family favorite Is the yellow corn so fine And when I see it at the table Its hard not to say -- all mine These are all my favorites Each one beautifully laden Because these are all the things That grow in Granddads Garden. Written for Rhonda our daughter GROWING UP It was the twelfth of September, In the year sixty-nine; At twelve: twelve on that day; Great joy was mine. On the day Rhonda arrived, God really must have smiled; A special gift from Heaven, Was, that baby child. If her mother and I could have ordered, From just any little girl mold; We couldn't have improved, What God gave us to hold. The years have come and gone, Since those wonderful days; And the child has become a lady; In all her precious ways. LOVE, DAD | |||||||||||||||||
