| The overall objective of EU-Phare LUP
I project AL 93 08 03 was the introduction of geo-information technologies as decision-support tools for the implementation of land use policy in Albania. The LUP
I project has been implemented in three phases. The main objective of the First Phase was to assess the current legislative and institutional situation of the agricultural sector and to identify the priority issues in this area. The objectives of the Second Phase were to develop the appropriate legislative and supporting regulatory framework for sustainable land management, identify information needs and prepare the technical specifications and tender documentation for geographic information system (GIS). Major outcomes of this phase were the Socio-Economic Study conducted in the pilot project area in Preza Komune and Technical Specifications for Geographic Information System. The Third Phase, following the recommendations from the project review, was fully focused on the implementation of pilot project.
