Each year LMCC sponsors a fireworks display in the middle of the lake.  Just about every boater is out on the lake the night of the fireworks display to view the spectacular event.  The surrounding area is also inundated with spectators form surrounding towns.
The platform used for launching the display is a 24'X64' barge, which is made up of 8-12'X16' floats.  Two of the float are re-deployed to support the Sky Hawks skiing activities.  The remainder of the floats are returned to storage.  The efforts of a small number of volunteers, most of which are from Beach 4, make this all possible!  The weekend before the holiday the floats are lifted onto our boat trailers and towed with our vehicles to Beach 5.  They are floated, with our boats, up to the boardwalk area and fastened together.  The night of the display the barge is driven to the middle of the lake and anchored for the event.  The following weekend the process is reversed.
The loads on our trailers are very wide.  So if you see us on East Shore Trail doing our volunteer thing, please yield to our traffic!
The pictures below illustrate some of our efforts.
