Watch out Oly, he is up to no good! EEEWWW!!! John trying to clean him like a cat! Do you think we have been drinking? John, Oly, Glenn, & Bob Oly is trying to communicate something.... Glenn is intent on something and I look stupid, or should that be drunk? Can't you just hear him now... You see during Fiesta there are a total of four parades This is the only one that floats down the river! They look like they are having a blast! Gotta love an army guy who can whale on a sax! Thursday April 25, 2002 A Trip To Mexico After we get out of the car on the American side, Jeanne decides that she need to use the port-a-pot in the parking lot. One of the 3 MILLION shoe store we shopped at in Neavo Loredo Then we hit our favorite plaster place. Oly picked up a man named David there for $50 bucks! Heading to the last stop of the day Senior Frogs!!! After walking around Mexico for six hours Bob REALLY needs that frozen blue margarita! Jeanne got a mango one! Oly got a Dos Equis, and is showing us his hidden talent! John just gives him the evil eye! See I can do it! Just why is Bob pinching his nipples??? On the way down, we took these shots many people don't realize that cactus bloom. We just saw yellow, But they also bloom in hot pink and red! Battle Of The Flowers Parade Friday April 26, 2002 The Battle of The Flowers parade, and Fiesta take place during the time the Alamo was under siege. Texas has had Six Flags fly over it in it's history. Texas, Since it is a republic, is the only state in the USA that is not required to fly the Stars & Stripes The first band of the parade SAPD - Cops on bikes! 1891 - 2001 One of many floats no comment and the band played on... Jim Cullem, the grand Marshall of this years parade. You can hear his weekly show on NPR each weekend "Jazz Live from the River walk" Now it is a San Antonio tradition that when a float goes by.. You yell "Shoes. Shoes. Shoes" You see, each of the queens have these great gowns on, well on year, one woman didn't wear shoes, but pink slippers.. So ever since then, they wear all sorts of footwear. This year I saw Fred Flintsone slippers, Lots of strange slippers, and a ton of "Way too weird" shoes! Now that is a big weenie! Now the kids who followed each of the horse groups, got huge rounds of applause, especially when they did their job infront of the crowd! SHOES...SHOES...SHOES... This parade was four and a half hours long It wouldn't be FIESTA without cascarones! These would be hard to crack over someone's head though! SHOES...SHOES...SHOES... Who knew there were gay homesteaders!!! The Budwiser wagon Wonder if Tinky-Winky is up there??? The Alamo before the parade Jeanne and her first visit to the Alamo Beads, Medals, Pins, and Crowns are the order of the day during Fiesta! Collin & John by the Alamo One of the old trees inside the Alamo. (Wonder if Davie Crocket pee-ed on it?) Saturday April 27, 2002 King William Fair Jeanne buying more stuff! Oly, who bough very little this year at King William Jeanne & John strike a pose Hey its Renee again! Still working!!! No Oly, buy NO MORE!!!! Oly & Glenn at King William. Now the King William section of San Antonio is one of the oldest and nicest sections of the city. By the 1960 it had turned into a run down section of the city, But never fear some brave gay men & women started buying up the houses and renovating the neighborhood. It is now one of the nicest sections of the city, and where I would LOVE to have a house, but they all start out at $750,000 and up! Love the hats boys! A closer look, was it just the hats we loved?? Family at King William with REALLY BIG BALLS! (Personally I think they stole those from the Christmas tree at Saks Fifth Avenue!) Saturday Night We were too tired to do the Flambo night parade, so we just stayed home and drank more!! John, Jeanne, & Bob beat Billy Veggin' Another shot of Bob veggin' Oly, Glenn & Jeanne we were watching a movie... Wait until you see the fiesta tans we all go at the parade! We did use sun block, but I guess not enough! Okay what is the deal, and why so many of me in my chair??? Oly, Nate & Janet His shirt says " I'm Shy" Yeah, right! John, Billy & Jeanne all dead tired! THE FIESTA TAN PICTURES!!!! OUCH!!!!! And we did use sun block! Sunday April 28, 2002 Everyone goes home.... In front of the house Oly, Jeanne, Billy Glenn & John Where'd Jeanne go? Jeanne is back, and so is Bob! Breakfast at IHOP. Guess who's breakfast? The sugar-free syrup is a dead give away! Our last meal in San Antonio together! Hey Randi!!!!! We were talking to you when this was taken!!! Randi & Paul were not able to join us for Fiesta this year, but we kept them in the loop via cell phone! This was Glenn & John! God, Too dark, now too light! Unloading Oly & Jeanne at SAT I love them to death, but it is always nice to get your house back to yourself after company! Smile Jeanne!!! Oly & John But I don't want to go.......... The parting shot The house ready for Fiesta 2002! It rained a couple days before fiesta, and I got the camera out to show how we get flash floods It rained for just 10 mins, but the river was running through our back yard. This is not bad, just an example Lake Bob-N-Glenn This is after 5 mins of rain It pours through the fence. sort of neat huh? But the flowers got watered! Out front around the tree The palms in the back yard, with the flowers around them The flower bed infront of the den window The Mexican Heather along the front walk, see how the rain washes the dirt away.
