Nirbellusha's Influences...

There are, of course, the original bands from which the name Nirbellusha is derived...

Nirvana... Nirvana was Scarlett's main influence, so it only seems fair for them to be first.

Belly... Because of Belly, Scarlett started singing (long story), and she loved the band, so "bell" it was.

Lush... From Lush, Scarlett picked up the chordy style that are in most of her songs.

The irony with these bands, of course, is the fact that, after Nirbellusha was made, Nirvana's Kurt Cobain died, so there was no more Nirvana, Belly broke up after their second album, and Lush broke up after their drummer killed himself. Great history, huh?
Now, after those three, there were a few later influences that didn't show up too much in the music because they became influences so late, but here they are anyway.

Big Head Todd and the Monsters turned out to be one of Scarlett's favorite bands later on, when the Nirbellusha era was all but over.

Juliana Hatfield was the main influence of Scarlett's singing later on.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd marked the beginning of Scarlett's blues era, which never quite made it to her music, due mostly to the fact that she quit playing guitar a little later.

Stevie Ray Vaughan marked the absolute change in Scarlett's music tastes. It also marked the absolute end of Nirbellusha.
