Backpack '99 Part 2

From Israel (Part 1) I took an Airplane to Rome. On arriving there I got a room (the price sounded good but wasn't - will explain later)... then I was off to the Collosseum (spelling ?)... It's massive - I did some (or rather a LOT) of walking around in Rome that day... was cool.
This is the rip-off room I spoke about. This is the bath/shower thingy. Way small. Well, first make sure how much you pay - I payed the lesson.

Next I went to Florence. This is a beautifull place. The church on the pic looks like something out of Alice in wonder land. Almost edible. Florence is a great place. I met a fellow backpacker... Colin from Canada here... so we decided to go to Venice together.
I first took a quick tour ro the tour of Pizza... a prayed for a cool day - since the previous day was VERY wet. Just look at the great day I got.... great!
Off we went to Venice. This is a great place. The Canals stink a bit :) but the rest is cool. Nice! So off we went - sightseeing the place. <l - r> Me, Colin.
A street market. Colinf is walking in front. We bumped a few people with our bags - but it was great fun. The started the "Backpacker's union".. talking about lots of travelling stuff....

We decided to rather eat a nice supper, than to spend the money on accommodation. So we slept in the park. Colin had a nife... :) My nose was frozen at around 3 in the morning... well - it was winter after all and close to the Canal.

Then I was off to Salzburg... I said bye to Colin. My he also get to know my Friend. Salzburg was cool to walk around in - but I didn't stay long. Just one evening - was followed by a weird man... but got away :)
Insbruck - this is a stunning place. SO beautiful! I would love to come back here... as you can see I LOVE snow. I missed out on snowboarding - maybe next time :)

I then went to Lucern in Switserland - also lovely looking - and then I was on my way to Nice - seen here. Here I met up with Rachel, Alex and Anthony. (i think) We shared a hotel... and we said bye... Nice is a MUST see!!!!
Off to Barcelona! I met up with Len in the train as we arrived there. I also made buddies with Mitul. We still email from time to time. Here we are sitting on one of Guadi's weird art structures... <l-r> me, Len, Mitul
Len and I went to Paris. Here is a nice sunset.
13 days to 2000. The eifel tower. I just left Paris when they had that storm in this area.
Poor guy. Illigal parking seems to be pretty serious here :)
Len and I spent his last night walking through Paris. We had a Espresso at Haagen Dazs. It was cool - thx Len. Enjoy your time!
This was in Versailles just outside Paris - nice to just get away from the rushed city life.

I first went to Brugge and then I was off to meet my friend Reli in Zwolle. Was nice to reunite after 2 years. We were fellow foreign exchange students in '97.
Well - also only Truth to him. We still email from time to time. After that I went to Germany. To visit my parents' neighbours. Well - I also got to know them much better. I love them alot. Would love them to know what I do. Here I got to build my first real snowman - at the age of 23. People just stared... :)
