Exploring Me-ness.

That's me blowing a kiss to you. This was taken about a year and a half ago so I look a little different, but you get the idea.

Okay, so you want to learn about me?

Alright, but I'm warning you, it may not be that interesting . . . Here goes:

I was born and raised in Hawaii, on the island of Oahu. After receiving my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Hawaii, I moved to Seattle to attend graduate school at the University of Washington. While I was there, I taught the dreaded English 131, or Freshman Composition class. In June of 1997, I graduated with my Master of Arts Degree and put it to good use doing temp work. Recently, I moved to Orlando, Florida because it seemed like a good idea at the time and am currently searching for a Real Job. Whee!

I used to live in Bellevue, Washington which is just east of Seattle and was temping for Microsoft. I enjoyed working for Bill (Gates, you know) even though I was just a lowly contract employee because of the casual dress code, flexibility in scheduling, and independence, but most of all, I loved the FREE SODA! Bill is smart and keeps his employees properly caffeinated and sugared up all day long by providing all the soda, coffee or juice you can drink.

In the Summer of 1998, I decided that it would be a Good Idea to run off to Orlando, Florida. The idea of sun and a new city appealed greatly to my sense of adventure and so off I went. While I was there, I worked for Galaxy Systems, Inc. which is a high-tech recruiting firm based in New York with offices in New Jersey, South Carolina, and of course, Florida. That bored me to tears, so I left that job and worked with the Orlando Shakespeare Festival and also did some web design and editing for the Neon Salon and Performance Space Orlando. I enjoyed that much more, but not enough to stay. I made some friends that I'll miss, but Orlando is definitely not the place for me. I realized this in January, and it only took me until the end of May to leave. However, there were some good things about Orlando: Lilia's, the Hawaiian Food restaurant that I ate at regularly, and Chef George and Gloria who became my good friends. Winnie, of course, and Performance Space Orlando where I got to see Them, the comedy improv troupe I adore. Barbarella's, the nightclub that had "Old Wave" nights and very good drink specials for ladies, and Jen, Amber and Paul, my dancing buddies. All of those things were enough to keep me happy there for a while, but my job sucked, my relationship sucked, my self esteem sucked, it was time to get out.

I finally made it back to Seattle during the Summer of 1999. I'm still dealing with the aftermath. Currently, I live in Greenwood with my younger brother, Evans and my roommate, Tim. For the most part, our is a harmonious existence, except for the fact that living with someone will get on your nerves no matter how nice he is. We occasionally squabble over television viewing habits and cleanliness issues, but that's not unbearable. On the job front, I'm locked in administrative limbo as I search for a Real Job. I'd dearly love to write or edit for a living, but so far no luck. Hopefully in the near future, though.

Other than that, my family lives in Port Angeles, Washington which is at the very tip of the Olympic Peninsula if that means anything to you. Besides my mom, Dorothy, I've got a younger sister, Celeste that lives there with her husband, Rob, her three dogs and three cats. My cat Kimi also lives there because I couldn't have her at my new place, but I think she likes it there better. I miss her, though.

If that wasn't enough, you can read the Reader's Digest Condensed Version of my life. Or, you can find out who I know, the stuff I like or the stuff I do.
Okay, so sue me. I've been very lax about updating my web page. Let's face it. It is very, very EASY to create a web page. However, it is very, very HARD to maintain one. Anyone who can learn HTML, or use one of those cheat-sheet home builders like the ones they have on Fortunecity or Tripod can have their very own web page with which to torment unsuspecting web surfers. It takes real talent to come up with content and designs that will constantly amuse. I am currently in the process of a major overhaul of this site and I'm trying to make sure that the information here reflects that. This bio is pretty up to date, but if you really must know all the nitty-gritty details you can email me.
